- Does every oxygen patient need a bubbler? -- YES, I explain why.
I show how to set up a bubbler, check the "pop-off valve", and what NOT to do with a bubbler!
Wow, your colleagues next time you set up a bubbler when you test the Pop-off valve :)!!

As a chronic user of 2-3LPM of oxygen (at home) via a nasal cannula, I can definitely tell you that my nasal passages becomes dry and irritated even if I don't have nose bleeds. Mucus retention and dry coughs are not fun, especially when you become too weak to cough effectively. The bubble humidifier definitely helps and it's so easy that to me it is a "why the hell not" type of intervention.
I completely agree. I'm a big bubbler fan!
Hi Jimmy! That was a Great demo on what not to do with a moisture bubbler. The things we won't do as clinical educators to demonstrate the mishaps we have done in the past. So our future students don't make them. I will show this to all of my EMT's and paramedics in our practice as it is a good thing to know and not gone over in paramedic school. Thank You!
Thanks for sharing with your future medics!
😄thank you for the demonstration.
I enjoyed watching that so much! It really got a good chuckle out of me, thank you for all of your very educational videos. 🙂
Love the video Jimmy! What you go through to demonstrate this to us!!! Too funny! Yes, I did this ONCE to a patient years ago. Learned my lesson!
Had a nurse ask why the "bubbler was exploding" went to check it out and she was trying to put on a new bubbler while the flow was was already cranked..
Make sure the flow is off before you try to screw it in ✅
Thank you for your sacrifice 😂 the nasal washing for our education
Of course!!
Thank you
Random, but do you have a video on how to connect a nebulizer to a patient who is in bipap
Yes!
I was always told never to go over 4L on these bubblers because of the expansion and over 4L can't go through that tiny pinhole anyway, what do you say about that? P.S. Your nose enema demo was great.
It matters what brand you are using, but if your flowmeter is a compensated thrope tube (most are) then it will only show the amount that is getting to the patient. If the hole occluded the flow, the ball on the flowmeter would fall to a lower number. I hope this helps!
What are your thoughts on Nebulizing hydrogen peroxide
I've not seen it done and I can't recommend it. I worry about long term alveolar damage and dysfunction of pulmonary surfactants.
Terre Haute I'm sorry
