I cannot even express how glad I am that you made this video! Some of my first and very favorite youtubers are now continuously posting these "live in fear, not in faith" videos, and it just makes me extremely sad. I have stopped watching them. I refuse to even call myself a homesteader these days because it gets me accused of being a prepper and I don't like what that implies. Do I prepare? yes, but not in that sense of the word. I grow and preserve my own meat and vegetables because it's what I love to do, and I've been doing it for pretty much 40 years for my family. I'm not a prepper. I'm not a homesteader. I am a Proverbs 31 woman...a keeper of my home. God bless you, God keep you, and prayers for all for an abundant, content, and joyful, faith filled life.

Totally agree!! I read a book years ago called Country Living and it goes into how God wants us out of the major cities and in country homes that resemble heaven. Using the example of Abraham, Enoch, Jesus and of course Eden the book shows that God’s blessing is out and amoungst nature. It seems that the loudest people promoting “exiting the cities” are fear mongering. I think we are meant to be in the country solely for character development as our Character will be the only thing, by God’s Grace, that we take to heaven with us. The term homesteader, like you mentioned, is sadly synonymous with prepper these days. I stopped watching doug & stacy years ago for their/his fear spreading.
Even when living out in the country, which I do, it does not keep me, or anyone, from danger so we must not think that solar panels, pantries, canning or rain catchments systems will save us. As important and wise as they are, our salvation is not found in them.

I got vilified on the Doug and Stacey comments once just for quite innocent comment about not being afraid. That’s when I thought nope ain’t coming here no more. Im for positive not scare mongering, you only get one life, care for it and love it!

I keep up with all the crazy and fearful things going on in this country and the world to know the signs of the times, but i do not live in fear. I live by faith because I love the Lord. 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

the fact that you homestead because its the sort of life you want to live and not because of a general disdain for society is what makes your channel so fun to watch. "scared people are easy to control" is such an important message, especially when a lot of the prepper mindset comes across as judgmental.

    • @searose6192
      @searose6192 2 месяца назад +7

I agree with your general point, but for many of us, doing what we can to ensure our family can ride out bumpy times is what makes us less fearful and less likely to be desperate enough to fall prey to control. I guess it depends on the person.

@@searose6192but would you share with your neighbor? If you are preparing out of fear for self preservation you will always be afraid.
I preserve, grow and have resources. I however also give it freely to family and friends. My success is their success.

@@Iluvchknz Of course I will share it with those near to me who don’t threaten our well-being, why wouldn’t I? You need the most people at your back that you can get…..

You got that right! Ive been spending many many hours putting up corner posts for a garden fence, and its expensive! Why does fencing material have to be so stupidly expensive!
About half done with the corner posts after a week and hopefully i won't have to buy more stuff to get the fence done.
But its gotta get done or the deer will eat everything.

And you are so right. Homesteading isn’t an escape from hardship. Fear isn’t a reason to homestead, or to become more self-sufficient.
For us (and I’m sure y’all) as Christians, the more we work toward self-sufficiency, the more we’re reminded of the provision God has given to us from the creation of the world. The ability to put forth GOOD work, with what He’s given us, is an act of worship for us.
Of course we’re still in the beginning steps of making these changes. Haha. Y’all are an encouragement to us, and where we CAN be in the future.

I'm so glad you did this video, it's funny last night I cut up a few delicata squash for our dinner and it occurred to me how many people complain about the cost of organic food, yet if they were to buy 1 delicata squash they would have 100 plus seeds they could use to grow their own! This is how I started my squash I ate last night. You talk about fear but one of the reasons I love your videos is because of trial and error and sharing what did and did not work. I think your brave to share it all. You are one of my favorite youtube channels.

It's so refreshing to see videos that call that out and see humanity as good. No fear-mongering, even when you say you "don't trust multi-vitamins", it's just a statement, not a "THEY ARE TRYING TO KILL YOU". Very much appreciate your tone and the way you approach it. Such a good reminder. It can be difficult to find the balance between trying to stay updated without starting to feel like the world is collapsing around us. I grow food for my family because I love this life. Focusing on the problems going on in the world robs me of my peace and starts to make me feel like I need to do more than I can manage.

Thank you for this incredibly helpful and timely video. I found myself slipping into fear again recently. Honestly, I was then starting to become a "perfectionist bully" to myself and even those around me. I don't enjoy homesteading when I'm motivated by fear and even comparison to other homesteaders. I just get so hard on myself. Them sadly, hard on my kids and husband.
Recently, I was able to share one of my snap pea seedlings with my friend. It felt so good to be in community and share. That's how my very small scale farmer mother raised me. To be very generous with the bounty you are growing. She was so generous, she had many people bring grown flowers out of the cuttings she'd given to others at her funeral. We did not even need a florist! God bless you all!! Truly, thank you! 💖

Hey guys!! I just found your channel a few days ago, and I can truly say I have enjoyed it so very much. To honestly be able to watch a normal family, homesteading the true and honest way. Learning as you go, and not being afraid of failure. You just get up dust off and try again. I am in the process of going back and watching your older videos. I am not a true homesteaders, but do raise a garden every year. We are truly honestly wanting to find some property to move on to start a true homestead. I want chickens, pigs and a milk cow. There is no time like the present to start with the state of this world is not getting any better. And I worry about my family especially my grand children I don’t want them to ever go hungry. My moon is 82 and she helps me in the garden we have right now. I want to expand it this year to have more growing space. Till we can get moved to a new property. Living in a trailer park is not the ides place to raise a great garden.

Homesteading won't make anyone immune to chaos, but done right, it will slow down our vulnerability.
What we need to achieve a higher level of resilience in the face of chaos is an overall population level of typical homesteader self-sufficiency. A whole nation that isn't worried where their next year's supply of food, water, and electricity is coming from because every household has got that sorted on their own land ... that's a nation that is very hard to make panic.
Panicking people who don't know how to sustain themselves except by taking from others are the real threat in times of chaos. Anything we can do to armour our neighbours against panic, we should - and when "neighbour" is anyone who could reach our home in a couple of days' driving with a good stash of fuel cans, that starts to mean our whole nation.
Homesteading is step one. Teaching everyone else how to grow their own food and harvest their own electricity and water is step two. Thank you for being part of step two.

I was really impressed by you both, you’re young and full of enthusiasm which is lovely see. Myself and my husband when he’s home are trying to get a piece of our land ready to plant up, we’re building a dead hedge to keep the neighbouring farmers sheep out first, we live in North Wales and the sheep here have this burning desire to escape their fields then eat everything in their path as they go to the mountains. Idea. Take your raspberries and strawberries and place in bowl. Put 1" of water in pressure cooker, place stand in to keep bowl off bottom. Pressure cook for 30 minutes for test. If pressure cooker softens bones why wouldn't it soften raspberry seeds? Let us know if you try it and the results. Butch in Idaho.

I’ve stopped watching other RUclipsrs that were once all about living a healthy abundant homesteading life and now preach fear based videos. Unfortunately they’re getting a lot of attention, which gives them more views and ultimately more money. Stay true to yourselves and attract peace, happiness and positive abundance XO

My day starts at 4 to feed animals, shower and run to work, work 10-12 hrs road construction then run home water what doesn’t have auto watering in garden, collect eggs then cook dinner. I shower and fall into bed exhausted. I sleep in till 6 Sat & sun 😊 cat screaming at back door keeps me from sleeping late lol
