  • Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd says there is “evidence of deflation” in Coles’ latest sales figures.
Supermarket chain Coles has reported a 3.4 per cent increase in sales in the third quarter to about $10 billion.
“Apples, avocadoes and lamb are apparently contributing to deflation in the economy,” Mr Boyd said.
“They did say prices increased 2.2 per cent in the third quarter, but the same quarter a year ago, prices increased 6.2 per cent.
“You can see evidence of deflation in Coles’ numbers.”
