Really interesting video. I think the part you missed in the hardware/software piece was that you already have a server up and running with Home Assistant on it rather than this all being contained in the fire tablet! That's quite a bit step for someone to install HA in their house :)
how did you enable the proximity sensor unlock feature on Kiosk? I have a Samsung Tab S7+ w/ Android 13 and Kiosk FULL license but cannot find it. There's a Turn Screen Off on Proximity which is greyed out, that's all. thanks!
I just got a Fire HD10 Tablet for this and I am not having much luck. I can't seem to install the Fully Kiosk Browser on it from the Google play store nor can I get the user login in HA to process the default dashboard I created for it. I logged in via the Silk Browser, but it opened Overview, not Tablet...
How did get the Fire table to go straight to the Fully Kiosk after you locked it? I have mine setup to do the same motion detection but it just brings me to the lockscreen? How did you remove the Fire OS lockscreen?
Great vídeo! 👍 Can i use Fully Kiosk without Home Assistant, just to use the Wakeup call to unlock the Sreen and use the normal original Amazon HD Dashboard? Thanks!
Hi Leonardo Great video! Your cameras are so clear. I have a 4K dahua system but for some reason the resolution is horrible in HA. Is there something I should be doing in its configuration?
Is an M1 Mac Mini overkill as an HA server? Or would an 8GB RPi be plenty? I have zero automation products but I'm planning a build for a new home (lights, nest products, garage, cameras, sensors, etc)
Hi Ellery! I love Mac products and m1 seems awesome, overkill for Home Assistant, I think so, better to go with an Odroid, or intel nul. However if you do get the m1 I'd love to hear the performance you get out of it!
Nice video, some really cool features I've not come across yet, thanks for making this. This is absolutely on my list of to do's with HA In case you are interested, I have had a little bit of experience using cheap consumer tablets permanently powered (not a firetab which may be better/same). The information below is just our use case and not everyone will have this issue so feel free to ignore. My company used consumer tablets for meeting room booking screens. After about 18 months, the batteries started to swell and become dangerous on a number of the devices. We spoke to the manufacturer, they advised this is not a good thing to do to keep them permanently connected and continuously charging. They recommended using dedicated display devices that are designed to run from the power socket but have a battery power for backup. These tend to be quite expensive however. For my install, I still plan to use a consumer tablet, but have the power plug connected to a smart socket. I will then use HA to power the plug off at 95% (ish) charge and on at 10% (ish) to cycle to batteries as if it was normal usage. This should help extend the life of the device.

Noticed I was getting email from you concerning your videos. That my friend was a welcomed sight. My fingers are crossed you will deep dive on subjects just not covered anywhere else. Example: Athom Smart Plug = device. Steps showing how to load the yaml file that will report back current, voltage and power. Also an example for the same item using automation steps. To many videos point you to ESPhome or HA website which is of no help to most folks. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Very steep indeed, assumption was that people had HA which is the most time consuming part !

In a hurry? What do we see when you prees at 3:09?
that part should have been cut out, just changing dashboards
I wosh the transitions between the pages and the wake up was smooth rather than patchy.

Could also do away mode or vacation to let it die off!
Great teaser for what is to come. Looking forward to your "how to". Where did you purchase that temporary wall mount bracket for the Fire Tab?
Not to worry, found it on Amazon. Barkan T50 Fixed Wall Mount.

How frequently does that happen? Did you use the adb toolkit to de bloat?
@@SmartHomeMakers Anywhere from same day to 3 days. I did use debloat. Ill see if I can undo the debloat
I used debloat recommended settings and it is working fine so far, fingers crossed. Did you get the version with ads?
@@SmartHomeMakers yes ads version. I'll restore to default then try just recommended settings. Thanks for the info.
