Then again maybe the reason why it's such bad quality is that the wages they pay the designers is barely anything... I know if I was payed diddly squat I'd probably spot a mistake like that and go "eh, I'm not payed enough to notice."

They're supposed to be making the Axe of Perun. You don't need to set your case performance goals very high when you are targeting the capabilities of a ceremonial axe.

Well unless they come from a truly Independed Testing Institution, but by this time the Product is already on the Shelves, since these Institutes don't test preproduction Samples, so getting the Awards on the Boxes won't happen until the Second production Run, which is to late for the marketing Team to brag about it.
"i.F." is one of the most prestigious awards ever. I won one for "best PC design of the century", and "Best Swiss Army Knife w/screwdriver" "best use of tweezers in a drama", and "best performance of a table in a comedy or musical". Recently Bryan Del Rizzo and Melvin Capital won a performance for "Best Dutch Rudder Performance in an editorial performance" I watched it and its performance was phenomenal. It brought a tear to my eye.

It never ceases to amaze me how the absolute core functionality of something can be completely missed by the so-called professionals at these manufacturing companies.
MSI is such an odd brand, on one hand their prices are decently competitive and sometimes their products are quite good. But they just consistently drop the ball over and over, like unless you specifically do your research to determine if one of their products is worth it it seems like you're better off steering clear of the brand
Absolutely. My MSI motherboard is awesome, their graphics card is garbage. One of my MSI laptops died very early, my other MSI laptop is great and still kicking. They’re wildly inconsistent but occasionally make a product I just can’t stay away from. MSI: avoid all their products unless you absolutely can’t.
@@Beastw1ck I had an R7 360 from them and the cooling performance was terrible and a MOSFET blew after 13 months of use. I have a GTX 1650 Super from them and it has been performing quite well, same PCB and cooler as the 1660 Ti. And the X470 Gaming plus max also has been quite good for me so far. As you said, they make good products, but you better research before buying because they are no strangers to making instant e-waste

Steve mentions early on that they had been working on this case for 7 years. This strikes of the marketing manager wining over engineering. "Just add an option for..." That radiator tray for example, looks like it was added very late in the design process, and engineering was already committed to the tooling for the rest of the case.
You can actually kind-of safe this case. My modifications: -Turn the top panel fans upside down to create a 2nd exhaust. -Replace the back exhaust fan with a better one. -Replace the upper Non-LED 200mm fan with 2x 140mm fans, located BEHIND the cases skeleton to create some air-space between the glass panel and the fans. Kept the lower one for aesthetics. New fans are obviously both set as intakes. -Using a liquid cooling system for my CPU, radiator as another exhaust, right beneath the top panel exhaust. I managed to cool my entire system by a LOT with this config. If you're willing to put the effort, you can have a very high quality, fanservice oriented case, which doesn't have top tier airflow, but will also never overheat. My CPU and GPU temps are at 70-85 and 60-70 degrees celsius under full load. If nothing helps, take off the front panel on top. This will make it perform even better. Config: Ryzen 9 5950X + Corsair 150i Pro XT RTX 3080 12GB Gainward Phoenix 32GB RAM G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 MHz MSI MPG X570 Pro Carbon Gaming AMD Be Quiet! Straight Power Platinum 850W
I have this case as part of an MSI Infinite RS prebuilt. I’m interested in saving it because I’ve had it for too long to return it, and I’ve noticed it’s running hot under very little load. Is there someplace away from YT comments we could chat about this problem? I’m quite new to PCs and am intimidated by what feels like a necessity to salvage my computer ASAP. I’m a total noob and have a lot of questions.
@asdrubale bisanzio that is not what I meant, what my meaning was others saying that if Steve says another PC Case is Bad there would be comments of Bias so people don't buy it but buy the G/N Case, or if he did say another PC Case was Good there would be comments of people saying G/N must have been Paid to say those things as they would be losing money to another company if you do buy it instead of the G/N case, it is a no win for Credibility if they keep reviewing PC Cases

semi agree but i'd say this is what happens when the design artist team doesn't consult the engineering team then 6 months after the final design was submitted the marketing team who didn't consult either of them goes "wtf, this case doesn't have big enough fans, we need to put 200mm fans on it and we need more glass and we need more RGB", doesn't consult the engineering team and goes straight to the manufacturing team and tells them to make these things fit.

They are very hit and miss. The old red and black gaming x cards are excellent. The gaming trio 3060ti is excellent. The mech 5700s are garbage as are several of there other cards. I suspect they have some very good engineers and designers but there is a bean counter screwing everything up.

Pretty trippy when you realize that the RV02 is over a decade old and Silverstone _still_ haven't come up with anything better (overall; some of their other cases can beat it in one or two metrics).

Only intending to relive the moment those 3rd degree burns were inflicted upon Micro Star International pertaining to their IF award for their Performance Gaming Sekira 500X and that ludicrous Axe of Perun invocation. AND WOW, IT HAS BEEN FUN! This got me thinking that Linus wasn't wrong about what he said back in the Roast. Steve CAN really put people to sleep. THANKS STEVE! Just needed 3 years and hundreds of videos for his sweet lullaby to take hold. BACK TO YOU STEVE :D
I still use a $45 Corsair Carbide 1 case I got over 5 years ago, with some customizations; Externally mounted PSU, intake fan in its place, externally mounted top exhaust, removed drive cage to "free float" SSD's, secured in a way to manage airflow from front intakes. x2 140mm intake fans at the front, x1 120mm intake on the bottom, x1 120mm rear exhaust, x1 120mm top exhaust, and it works quite well.
Saw a deal on the 500p and was curious about the deal with the mesh around the perimeter of the side panels, I thought it might have issues, so thank you GN for confirming my suspicions and I will keep looking for something else
MSI will have to do much worse than this to beat: - NVIDIA "cancelling" Hardware Unboxed. And our current no #1 on the leaderboard... - NZXT's "tiny towering inferno" H1 riser fault that causes fire.
Between videos you have done covering MSI products and my own viewing of their livestreams I am not sure I would ever purchase anything from them. Thank you for being honest and covering these companies without fake 5 star reviews for everything.

Is there someplace away from YT comments we could chat about this problem? I’m quite new to PCs and am intimidated by what feels like a necessity to salvage my computer ASAP. I’m a total noob and have a lot of questions.

what my meaning was others saying that if Steve says another PC Case is Bad there would be comments of Bias so people don't buy it but buy the G/N Case, or if he did say another PC Case was Good there would be comments of people saying G/N must have been Paid to say those things as they would be losing money to another company if you do buy it instead of the G/N case, it is a no win for Credibility if they keep reviewing PC Cases

This is so true this case runs hot but I placed a triple msi fan/radiator blowing up and I flipped the top fans to blow up as well since then works awesome

We saw that when researching it! I guess a name has to come from somewhere, and certainly other mythologies are used often enough... it just seemed a little out of the blue for a computer case.

This is an example of when you let the marketing and design artist teams put together a product without consulting the engineering team.
semi agree but i'd say this is what happens when the design artist team doesn't consult the engineering team then 6 months after the final design was submitted the marketing team who didn't consult either of them goes "wtf, this case doesn't have big enough fans, we need to put 200mm fans on it and we need more glass and we need more RGB", doesn't consult the engineering team and goes straight to the manufacturing team and tells them to make these things fit.

They are very hit and miss. The old red and black gaming x cards are excellent. The gaming trio 3060ti is excellent. The mech 5700s are garbage as are several of there other cards. I suspect they have some very good engineers and designers but there is a bean counter screwing everything up.

Remember the times when they sold cases with actual airflow? It's Insane to think about it.
Pretty trippy when you realize that the RV02 is over a decade old and Silverstone _still_ haven't come up with anything better (overall; some of their other cases can beat it in one or two metrics).
The worst part is how having the bottom half of the case's front be mesh wouldn't compromise the aesthetics at all
Alternatively, and more functionally, make the _top_ half mesh. Or brushed and slotted.

I still use a $45 Corsair Carbide 1 case I got over 5 years ago, with some customizations;
Externally mounted PSU, intake fan in its place, externally mounted top exhaust, removed drive cage to "free float" SSD's, secured in a way to manage airflow from front intakes.
x2 140mm intake fans at the front, x1 120mm intake on the bottom, x1 120mm rear exhaust, x1 120mm top exhaust, and it works quite well.
Thumbnail should've had more of a McBain feel with "the fans, they do nothing!"

MSI will have to do much worse than this to beat:
- NVIDIA "cancelling" Hardware Unboxed.
And our current no #1 on the leaderboard...
- NZXT's "tiny towering inferno" H1 riser fault that causes fire.
This is the exact reason I still use my Antec 900 case from years gone for one of my computers, it simply works.
Between videos you have done covering MSI products and my own viewing of their livestreams I am not sure I would ever purchase anything from them. Thank you for being honest and covering these companies without fake 5 star reviews for everything.
