As a steven wilson fangirl i have to add that steven produced Opeth's Damnation and played the keyboards, piano, mellatron, did backvocals, the mastering and mixing!
Just so you know, with the new album being a concept album, it's really important to start with the first track, then go in order. Having the lyrics at hand is a must as well, and will make sense of going in order. A full album reaction for this album is best. I don't even search youtube's reactions for random tracks on it, which is a first for me. Scattered track listening for it is a big mistake in my opinion.
Thank you for the recommendation! I am going to do a full album listen through and give my thoughts song by song. Due to the copyright challenges with something like that though, I will likely do that as a video for the Patreon.
@BraindeadBreakdown Bummer, being on limited income as a senior (75 as of yesterday), I can't do Patreon. Opeth doesn't have an issue with copyright. There are already a lot of full album reactions on youtube. But, oh well, maybe you'll release it to RUclips someday.
@@floridabelle I often release the Opeth ones as free videos over on Patreon anyway 😁If I do the album listen through over there, I will make at least a couple of the sections available to watch over here though.
The next song is Hope Leaves, and that fact alone makes this song better than on its own. Hope Leaves is peak Damnation IMO. Very curious to see your take on that one!
One of my all time favorite songs from the mighty Opeth 🔥 combination of Opeth and Middle-Eastern vibe is untouchable 💯🤌 Enjoy your ride dude

Speaking of backing vocals, on lwat everybody in the band does some singing + three guests. 😊

Okay. Thanks for the heads up. I hope you enjoy the album. Overall, I love it, but I do love Paragraph 5 the most.

the heavy did in fact not come.
(spoiler: you're gonna have to wait all the way to the following album ... which you've already tasted)
It is better live
