Candi looking good and sounding great (as usual) in her 70's! It's SO sad that all but a precious few of today's young people don't know crap about Muscle Shoals, AL.
It's sold out. Dont know Why they are limiting it to only 5000. That ticks me off. McFarland park could hold 10 times that with ease and does every 4th of July.
Ken Perk I know we couldn’t get tickets either. They will be doing karaoke after I can’t remember where. I figured the city limited it and if it goes well will let more in next time. We probably had that many people cruising on Sunday’s in the 80s. Bumper to bumper and every car full. 😂 Good Times!
Ken Perk Hey did you see this? A friend said to check FB she knew some folks that may not go and they are going to put them on there. Hope you get to go!! www.newsbreakapp.com/n/0N15VKQN?pd=02U6JSgc&s=i0
Oh yeah, the south is mighty proud of these folks! The Purcy Sledge's, Candi Staton's and Rick hall! Spooner Oldham, David Hood and the master, Jimmy Johnson! Music that makes souls come alive! How about the young ones? John Paul White and Jason Isbell! Damn fine playing by all! Brought to you by the river that sings!!!!
I had the privilege of hanging out with Jimmy Johnson behind the mixing console down in Muscle shoals. He played some of the songs he worked on playing air guitar to the parts he played as we sat there listening. What a great memory. Thanks to my friend Chris for the invite
sublime .. Spooner and Jimmy and the rest of those great musicians who passed through Muscle Shoals are the reason that I got into music and became a pro forsaking a day job .. 34 years later my love for the groove hasn't dimmed
So...me neither. This song is dedicated to my long sufferin husband. I'm about an hour and a half away from Muscle Shoals AL. I live in Jasper AL. RIP the Swampers that have gone on!
Let's face it. The Swampers have never craved the spotlight out front. I've got a DVD OF a Traffic Concert from '72 in Santa Monica (I think). David was on bass and Roger freed up Jim Capaldi to leave the drums and roam the stage. They were on target of course but did nothing to draw attention to themselves. I'm sure they were quite satisfied to remain in the background and do what they do.
The talent behind those singers is legendary. I love the stapleton's but that's a billion dollar industry playing behind them Spooner and the boys sound as good as ever. They've been known to pick a song or two, Lord they get me off so much they pick me up when I'm feeling blue now how about you. I believe that's in the Bible or somewhere.
Tinnitus forced Roger to the sidelines. I suffer from it too but I can imagine a drummer, almost 20 years older would be suffering even more. Can you imagine the decades of wearing headphones with drums pounding? He's one of the best ever.
I didnt even realize he wasn't playing had to go back and watch again....another comment down below said he had to sit it out because of something ....read below

there was a PBS show on Muscle Shoals,the players,the recordings,the labels...fantastic program
Still the greatest studio musicians that ever lived and the face that they left on music changed the music world .... literally
Jason Isbell has become the biggest thing to come out of Muscle Shoals in sometime. Good ole boy from Green Hill, Alabama!
Ken Perk 👋 from Petersville
Are you going to Shoalsfest? Leave it to Jason to have a Festival.

Sing it loud and proud!
@fiddlefolk well said. not many people know about the river that sings.
We never have to say the South will rise again, I believe the Swampers have already did that
@@dennisddd8243 yes sir

Wonderful performance - don't think I've ever heard Muscle Shoals singers/musicians when they weren't at the top of their games.

Jamie Marshall amazing I loved this Sound and the Allman Brothers Sound
A little late seeing this performance of the Swampers, but wow that was so fine. Whoa...
THIS is the good stuff! What a treat. When I hear things like this, I feel privileged to be alive. Could have heard an hour or 3 of that!
Sure nuf! David Hall, Spooner Oldham and Jimmy on guitar. THE Swampers, backing another act who're getting the benefits of that great sound!
David Hood, but he played for a Hall. 😉
Jimmy Johnson guitar, David Hood bass, Spooner Oldham keys, those are the Swampers, Barry Beckett, keys Pete Carr lead guitar
Rest in Peace Roger Hawkins
Love his drumming!! ❤❤❤❤ RIP
Most of these guys I worked with in my youth. Co-wrote with Spooner. All great players. RIP Jimmy Johnson
Wow!!! What a pleasure to watch & listen! Thanks for posting.
Slayed. Just on the floor.

Spoon easing his way through
These folks are incredible
And after this was Craig Ferguson. I miss late night tv. Wish they would bring it back
This is an example of what a "groove" sounds like
Real Music. .....
Did anyone notice Candy changing the last 2 lyrics at the end...doubt it was a mistake...Love this song
Yes, the change from "you" to "I" is deliberate
awesome..... thanks for sharing this.
Great, GREAT song!
A powerful performance from a dying breed ,the sounds of the old south . Nothing like the junk we hear today .
John & Jason are not The Swampers, it's the old dudes in the back that had the magic.

Letterman introduced them separate from the swampers, not as
The real swampers on stage deserved their own intro

Swampers! Gots ta b Kool.
Fantastic !
Love it!
Awesome , hope you've got a room I'm coming down to muscle shoals
For some reason 14 hearing impaired people saw this video.
i have a pic with dave hood. my mom went to high school with the swamper’s kids and was always at their houses
The Holladay Sisters (my mother and aunt) sang with Candi Station on her song "Evidence", recorded at Fame in 1970: facebook.com/HolladaySisters
Great!
Who’s the drummer? (wild guess: Anton VIg??) Unfortunately not Roger Hawkins, but he sounds great.
Who the fudge would give this video a downclick of hate? 8 folks as of 6/13/18 need to be ashamed of themselves.
oh yeah!!!
Candi- YOU Steal The Show... Beautiful Amazing LADY...Candi should have sang more..
+Connie Pasteli the guy on the left CANT SING..sorry
Cool! Spooner, Jimmy and David all on stage together. Who was the horn player?
Hey David and Spooner
The swampers… missing roger Hawkins on drums
And the Great BARRY BECKETT on anything with keeys! And Famous Gutarist Pete Carr
Me too...
Wondering where Spooner got that jacket.
Good Will...
Probably at Parisian in Decatur...I had the identical jacket from there in 1969.
Tommy Stinson's yard sale...
@@darnfloor Probably from Wimp Sanderson.
I used to sell weed to jason Isbell
where's Roger?

He and Barry BECKETT were in bad health.
Dave Choked. He never introduced any of the original band members.
Weakest intro ever, let's forget about Jimmy Johnson, David Hood, and Spooner Oldham. David Hood made Drive By Truckers.
