Please don't give up. I swear, this season is just like your christening and once you really get the swing of it, things will smooth out. I also really appreciate your transparency so that others will know the types of challenges, as well as adventures and beautiful places and people (and even some of the not so beautiful people) they can expect to encounter should they jump into mobile living AND I'm sure it's great for others who are doing the same to see you and know they're not alone.

Being a trucker, I know 1st hand about being tired from driving but can not stop. From your video, I can tell you were in the Colorado mountains, and there aren't very many places to stop there. So with that being said, DO NOT let this little setback deter you from your dreams. You did something I myself have been doing research on, only I want to convert a 53' trailer. Keep your heads and spirits up, and put your journey in God's hands. The guys who came to move the rock from under your bus was no coincidence. Mela....Don't give up, things happen for a reason, and the things that have happened to you, helped to teach you both.
    Keep the wheels rollin'.

Mela and Don, you guys are real troopers. We have been on the road for 2 years also and I worry about major issues every day. You have a special bus being a coach bus it is low to the ground with a giant diesel engine. Our hearts were hurting watching you fix one issue to only have another crop up. Our bus is only 31 feet and has a small 7.7 liter CAT engine, so far we have only had to change the water pump. Charging your mini split is really easy if you get a cheap vacuum pump and gauges from harbor freight and watch a few RUclips videos. I’m sure your budget is tight after the last month. We will keep you in our thought and is we run into you on the road we would be happy to help you fix anything you might need. Next month can only be better, Michael and Susan

I did something similar about a year ago. I've had my rig since it was new (1996) so same vintage as your bus. Anyhow, had a long day and I was tired and two of our camping spots didn't work out so we were on the third. I was tired and like you Don, was watching a tree. Cut the corner too sharp by about 2 feet and rear wheels dropped off pavement into a ditch with culvert. Luckily, the leveling jack (fully retracted and located behind the rear axle) caught the road surface and kept the wheels from falling further. However, I had to call a heavy wrecker and they had to lift by the rear and set the rig back on the pavement. I was soooo lucky that the leveling jack caught the rig as there was no body damage. Only damage was my pride. I've driven this same rig for 28 years. You don't know how deflating this was as we take some tight roads in the forest and this was by far the worst mishap. You have to be ready to do mechanical work if you can. I replaced a failed turbocharger in a DOT lot on the side of the road (they were paving the interstate). That was fun. Safe travels and just remember....It'll buff out!

When you mentioned that you have low oil pressure, led me to believe that you possibly have a leaking oil pressure sensor (sending unit). Just follow the leaking oil stream if you have enough room, the oil sending unit is probably located near the oil filter assembly, easy fix if accessible. Good luck and keep us posted. 5:06

Mela and Don Me and my wife did the same thing you two are doing. The breakdowns just kept on coming. We would get one thing fixed and another would pop up. The repairs cost so much money it drained our money. The things that were supposed to bring us happiness went away after 4 years. You can get one thing fixed and go another 1000 miles worrying what was next. The STRESS and anxiety was too much to bear. exhaustion played into every event and mile we drove. After the 3rd year I did not know what was next. We were not having our dream come true but a hidden nightmare. Diesel mechanics are few and far between. And as you well know by now it is going to be thousands of dollars. We just could not bear the strain anymore. Buying a used Prevost, we thought was great for us but after 5 yrs. of stress that never went away. It was all over for us. Unless you have a endless supply of money and nerves you might survive. Your videos are great, but you know there is so much worry than what you are filming and showing I know this because me and my wife lived it. Maybe if I was not in my 50s I could of handled it better but I have my doubts. Good luck in your journey. I have been where you are going.

Things could have been a lot worse. It’s good that the rock damage was only cosmetic and did not sever any electrical wires or punch a hole in that diesel tank. It’s also good that some good folks arrived to help you out just when you needed it. Have you guys considered doing a Route 66 trip. That’d be good for about a 100 videos since there is so much to see and do on that road. There’s a bunch of RUclips channels doing Route 66 but I’d love to see the Rehabit-8 version of it.

Just Remember, You dont have a $3000 per month house payment. One can repair alot on a bus for $36000 per year. Also house break down as well, They need new water heaters, new microwave, freon added to the A/C. I know its frusterating but keep your head up and enjoy the journey. The good and the bad are all pert of it and make us great. Have a great time, wished you would have hit us up while in Utah, wed love to have seen you. Ivan and Sylvie have stopped in a few times, love to see fellow bus nuts and hope we can enjoy the road soon, dumb jobs!

The money it takes to repair commercial type rigs is expensive a way to over come that bill is to increase your skill set .when I started as a mechanic it was because im poor and not able to pay someone else .I do agree about the mess it makes to fix things that you have to do what you have to do. .KEEP PUSHING FORWARD IS ALL YOU CAN DO DON'T EVER QUIT.STOP AND TAKE A BREAK THEN CHARGE AHEAD!!!!!!!! When I saw how much was leaking and where the spot on the ground was, I knew exactly what the problem was! I had that EXACT oil leak from my MCI! Haha! Its a BIG job pulling the turbo, draining (and capturing) 20 gallons of coolant all to unbolt the oil cooler and replace a dumb $5 rubber o-ring!
Just a heads up, use your VIN or engine number and order the correct turbo oil drain tube and gasket! That tube is crazy chinsey and will crack and leak next! Its a much easier job though one you have the correct tube!
What you guys are doing is NOT for the faint of heart! Trusting a nearly 30 year old bus to get you out into the wilderness and back! Driving a 25,000 bus through uneven dirt roads! I would imagine this is exactly what it looks like to do that stuff! Its not all just instagram pictures! I tip my cap!
Stay level. Stay even! Rock on!
