Having one Karina, someone who refuses to go "yes and," but instead goes, "you're wrong what the hell is wrong with you," really elevates the improv bits
I live for the day Karina is like "Bone game?" and it actually is. I want her to reply with a "what the hell is wrong with you".
I said this before, but Karina's energy is not "Yes, And" but rather "No, U" and it makes for a fun dynamic between her and the other hosts.
It's a great dynamic. Especially because Jacob and Nathan are VERY "yes and". Julia is a combination of both

It works because the others are good enough to roll with it. It's a play that requires a lot of skill but really pays off when executed properly.

I really had the audacity to go 'it cant get much sillier after that intro' only to be immediately proven wrong two minutes later with the unhinged guessing of nathan's drawing

I may not be a zoologist but I know enough about animals to know that Karina's message about not messing with hooved animals is correct, everybody thinks they're chill because they don't eat meat, but what they don't remember is that everything in their area code wants to eat them, and when that is your life you need to either be so fast or you need to be prepared to kill, or both, usually both, also these are really good gijinkas

This is very true of large prey animals in general. Natural geographics put it pretty succinctly in one of his videos: there’s no negotiating with something that thinks you want to turn it into calories. A predator is more likely to flee if faced with a human because it can’t afford to get injured, because if it’s hurt, it can’t run, can’t hunt, can’t eat, and will die. A herbivore, on the other hand, often knows that a threat means “you’re about to be eaten”, and it will act according to its capabilities and behavior: run, or fight. A carnivore will fight to eat, but a herbivore will fight to live.

14:00 Domestically kept buffalo can actually tend to be overbearingly friendly. It sometimes can be a real actual safety issue for farmers because they are huge animals and will affectionately crush you without realizing it.

Speaking as someone who lives in Wyoming and who used to live very close to Yellowstone, I can confirm that Julia is 100% correct about tourists thinking they can pet bison and being very extremely super wrong about that.

Julia's joke about armoured dogs being connected to armadillos is funny to me because the introduction of armadillos in Minecraft was connected to the much requested dog armour. So yeah, dog armour and armadillos are connected.

Dogs aren't really related to Armadillos, besides both being mammals. Now *pangolins*, on the other hand, are actually a sister group to the Carnivorans (which includes dogs). This has been fun facts nobody cares about but me, with your host, me. Thank you and good night.

Karina's drawing looks like the witch from Howl's Moving Castle after she lost her powers, but she built up her paragon points instead of bad karma.

David has been going buck wild with the editing lately and I'm really enjoying it
Yeah me too. 2024 is a whole new drawfee game.
The main difference between manatees and dugongs is definitely the snout, but they also have different caudal (tail) fins! Manatees have a paddle-shaped fin that's in one piece, and dugongs have fluked tails, tails with 2 parts! Dugongs can also grow little tusks (which can erupt in both males and females!) while manatees can't. There's lots of other minor differences like the texture of their skin and shape of their fins, but the main two differences are the snouts and tail fins!
I checked my sources before commenting, but if I got anything wrong, let me know, and I'll fix it!
(also neither of them are winter animals at all, have basically no body fat, and would perish depressingly quickly if introduced into basically any California beach, much less arctic water)

Fun Fact: Sirenians have nipples near their armpits. At 7:23, you can even see the manatee calf nursing on them.

Episode idea: Genre swap telephone!
One person designs a character in a specific genre, they hand it off to the next person who does a genre swaped drawing of that character, then the next person draws it in another genre without seeing the first one. Sort of like the fursona telephone episode you did a little while ago.

Can I just say I adore Jacob’s camel. I saw it as soon as the bag on top. Using the bags to replicate the hump was perfect! The hunched, long neck, the long lashes, pissed off face, long face and thin long arms but with bigger hands/feet. It!s all passable as simple stylistic measures but all together I think it captures a camel extremely well!

Jacobs camel tho was actually so spot on. I was working and looking away for most of it, but when I turned back I immediately thought "thats a camel," half forgetting the game of the episode. That was literally moments before Jacob saying "I bet the audience knows."
Holy transitions Batman. Also I'm so hoping The Bone Game returns at some point to fuel Karina's desire

This so quickly became one of my favorite episodes. So many great goofs right of the bat

I absolutely loved the commentary on this episode because many of the jokes and puns are the sorts of things my group of friend would make. Especially the ones about bison. It was a true delight. It reminded me when my friends spent 5 full minutes making puns about squidward.

And he has to guess all the animals but the last one is just a pigeon with a lot of decorations so it looks like a sage grouse
David becoming progressively more tired trying to keep up with the bits and edit together something cohesive has me dying
I feel like Bison would have the issue of people always coming up to him being like “omg your hair looks so soft and curly, can I touch it?” and that’s when he gets pissed off

A bug version of this would be pretty cool, though it could be a lot harder to guess depending on how specific you get. Then again, that's half the fun!
The fact that early on Nathan said Karina's character looked like the cousin of Spheal and her animal ended up being a dugong(/Dewgong) is so damn GOOD

Camel is the adventurer, he meets Bison and they form an unlikely friendship that is mostly quiet, and they finish each of their adventures in Manatee's one room restaurant that she runs out of her house,, where she listens to their tales and shakes her he'd, plying them with soup.

Nathan's Character.... I want to make an RPG character that is him. Maybe shadowrun. A shaman who's got Bison as a mentor spirit. Tough. A Bruiser. Maybe a Str Based Monk in DND? I dunno. I'm into him.
I loved this. I'm an ecology grad student, and constantly anthropomorphizing in my free time. Would love to see a follow-up where y'all combine two or three animals into a character. Maybe add an *element* into the mix? And expand beyond mammals? (No shade 😬) Personally, I'm a water-type duck-bear.
