Keep making the videos my man. Enjoying BCB dxing quite a bit lately using an R-390a but won't be lugging that to a park anytime soon!

Great video! I take it the location was somewhere in New Jersey or eastern Pa? That station playing the music on 680 had to be WISR from Butler, Pa which is just north of Pittsburgh and only 250 watts. That's an amazing catch there! I grew up in south Jersey and really liked how much could be heard on the AM band just during the daytime and especially down at the shore.

They maybe only 250 watts, but take in consideration the station is in the lower part of the band, and check the FCC Database. Their tower maybe taller as well, so to keep them from interfering with other stations, they have to run that low of power. These days, many AMs have FM Translators, so their core audience is listening to them on FM.

That's funny I grew up listening to WISR-AM in Butler. I'm only about 25 miles from it ❤ if I recall correctly the DJs name was Dave malarkey

    The Panasonic is great.
Too bad they don't make them like that any more.
    Enjoyed the test.

I live in North NJ and I can get WBZ 1030 kHz Boston even during daytime. From my home to the WBZ transmitter site in Hull Massachusetts is 197 miles away.

I get 760 WJR in Detroit all day and night from my location which is about 200 miles away. No problem

I thought I heard them mention Fayette County. That very well could've been 680 AM WISR Butler Pa

Hi, I've bought Panasonic RF 2200 last month...great receiver...but I don't know how to test the level of batteries on indicator. Will you please inform me how to use battery indicator? I read the mangal however didnt understand.

Your Panasonic RF-2200 may need a little spruce up alignment. A well aligned RF-2200 should show no appreciable increase in reception using the loop antenna. The loop really shines with less sensitive radios such as the popular Tecsuns. Good video though, at first I thought you were just going to tune into the 50,000 watters as WFAN as I've seen other youtube videos do...

Can you please explain in detail why the loop antenna does not help the Rf-2200.? I have both the GE SR2 and the RF-2200, and the you are correct, the loop has very little effect ( it does help a little though in extreme cases ) on the RF-2200. For the GE SR2, the loop helps tune in stations so much better. It's a weird phenomenon, as you would think the RF-2200 would be boosted a bit with a loop, do to its sensitivity, but that's not the case. I found the AM loop cancels out many weak RF stations on the RF-2200 ( not all ), where as the GE SR2, the stations gained RF. The GE is very sensitive too, so the less sensitive statement is mute to me. I'm not sure what you mean by alignment. Is my GE SR2 out of Alignment if it performs better with the loop? For reference, I can pick up WHO 1040 out here in northern California on both units, but the RF-2200 is just a hair better with the loop tuned. Thanks Gary...

While TecSun is a popular radio there in the United States, this same radio here in Brazil is a luxury item, and it can cost small fortunes.
