Thanks for the video , my 2001 with 335k has had a dried up spider inside the cluster for 10 maybe 15 years , absolutely can’t believe I’ve waited this long to do something about it , thanks for making it easy !
😅 you weren't alone in that, glad the video was helpful!
You did such a good job explaining everything you were doing that I am voting for you to be the instructor for all instructional videos on the Internet. :-)
Haha, appreciate the solid video feedback. Hopefully I can become the morgan freeman of instruction videos
OMG I cannot thank you enough for sharing this video! I bought my 02 Tacoma in 2020 and it came with a crusty dead bug by the odometer! And now two more bug corpses have joined this macabre scene. Plus I just got new purple LEDs for the instrument cluster so killed 2 birds with 1 stone :D
I don't how they getting there, but it's common enough haha. Glad the video could be of service and like the idea of the LED swap!
My instrument bulb went out after 20 years. I watched this video and I ended up sticking a little flashlight on the steering wheel column to illuminate the gauge panel after dark. Best $5 I ever spent ;)
Haha MacGyver level ingenuity right there!
seriously, you are precise, helpful, and sound like a cool dude and having tools right up front recognizes how many folks brting their smart fone to the car to revew while you do. Smart AF. Thanks!
Appreciate the feedback and kind words! I watch plenty of youtube tutorials, so trying to capture items I like to see in how-to videos
I shed a single tear at the memorial scene...
🫡
You give "bug out" a new meaning, lol.
LOL
thank you for sharing, I have to do the same, my tacoma was flood and I have to clean it.
No problem, happy to be of service and that the video was helpful. Good luck with the cleanup of your truck and keep it going strong!
Great video. So pleasant. Thank you!
Appreciate the video feedback and kind words!
So much work to remove bugs, I would have left it and would tell people it's there for decoration.
LOL
weird question, but what's the square light located in the bottom center of your instrument cluster? I have a 1st gen that doesn't have that light.
It's the "O/D off" light. Essentially, if I'm hauling a load or going through terrain, if engaged I won't be able to shift into a high gear
im just looking to remove the cluster to take out the annoying TPMS light out.
😂 I hear you!
Great video! I really appreciate the step-by-step instructions & demo 👍When I saw the bug, I thought "That's a Japanese beetle," since that's what folks here call them, but a quick survey of the intarwebs suggests that's not the case. A ladybug is my current best bet 🐞
Appreciate the video feedback! I'm hoping it was a ladybug or atleast an interesting species haha
Do I need to disconnect battery first?
Typically not needed for low current items that do not have power going to them when car is off, but could be done as an extra layer of precaution.
@@EngineeredMojodid you disconnect?
No idea about the bug, though. I have a hunch about the small ones, if you have a dog. . .;-)
That bug has been in there I think since I bought my truck haha, previous owner did some off road trailing so always wondered if it was from that
Stink bug
Comment I've been waiting on 🙏🏾
I have a 2003 Tacoma with a little over 150K miles on her. My ENTIRE instrument cluster went totally dark. I purchased the truck in 2020 when it had a bit over 120K miles on her. I noticed some water getting in from the top between the firewall and cluster. Not a lot but, lights on cluster began going out. Then coming back on. Now, totally dark. It's not a fuse. I have done this procedure about halfway through and didn't see anything amiss. I guess I'm going to have to remove the cluster. Any ideas are gladly welcome. Anyone ever seen this before?
I haven't personally and yes, I agree since lights went out gradually the fuse is probably not the issue. I'd take dash out and let dry out completely and try to seal water intrusion area to see if that helps
@@EngineeredMojo Okay. Will do. I think I've identified where the water is getting in from. That grill looking thing just under the wipers. I have purchased some silicone. I guess that grill has to come off, also. It looks pretty straight forward.....a few Phillips screws holding it on.
