I ordered those Boss speakers a few weeks ago. When they arrived I looked at them and decided not to run them in my truck. So, I ordered the JBL GTO speakers LOL. Going to start installing the JBL's and a 10inch JL Audio subwoofer-- powered with a 1,200 Watt Amp ! I am going to keep the Boss speakers and won't return them--- eventually I will find a use for them but they will not be my daily driver. The pioneer to-f1634r are amazingly loud and sound pretty good on low watts . Amazing for the price great price . Mounted them in my boat and wasn’t expecting them to last but they lasted 2 years in the weather no cover on the boat !!
Hi Mike, great channel, thanks for doing this. Question for you. My Audi needs a 2 ohm speaker, 5.25. Which are the speakers you would recommend? I listen to more Pink Floyd type music, very much clarity of sound vs huge bass.
Which is better overall if you want luxury bass, clarity, and sound inside the car only not outside the car Alpine R, GTO 629, Focal, or Infinity Kappa or another brand??
I would assume most people who buy these speakers are replacing their original ones that came with the car. Most of these speakers mentioned don't necessarily need an amp and are also a great entry into car audio.
Last year you had the jbl628 in second place to the alpine. Now the 629 seems top of the pack. How would you compare the 628 vs 629. I'm torn which one to buy with a $45 difference per pair right now. I want to buy 4 to replace all my stock car speakers.
Hello Mike, I am a new subscriber to your channel and want to ask you if you would recommend the Soundstream PF.6 Picasso series 6.5” component speakers? I noticed that you do not put too much emphasis on that brand or its products on your channel. Is there a reason why you don’t, and if there is what would you recommend to be a replacement for that particular model? I am thinking of buying two sets of those speakers for the one reason that I cannot seem to find anything else that comes close to being such a deal in terms of pricing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Hey Mike, greetings from Florida! I love music and I'm trying to upgrade my sound system on my ford f150 for a clean and quality sound system I've been doing a research for over a month now on speakers and stuff, I think I've watched every single video of yours about comparison and reviews and I'm still having a really hard time to decide what speakers to get for a complete round up in my truck, I do everything my self I've done all the mods on my truck my self with passion and I love it, but I really need your help Mike please what do you recommend for me, I'm trying to keep the price reasonable since it's really hard to make money and I don't want to be disappointed again with my choices, I've just ordered a recoil class D 4ch amp 2ohm-4ohm stable with 300rms at 2ohm x 4 and 210 rms at 4ohm x4 noise ratio 85db and frequency 15hz - 25khz and trying to find the best affordable speakers that would complete my set up. I'm going to do a sound deadinng on all doors as well, I recently bout a Polk Audio amp(wich I'm returning tomorrow due to overheating) to replace it with the recoil amp above👆 Currently the Polk Audio is running my jbl GTO939 6x9 Coaxial 100w rms 300w peak on the front and the jbl GTO629 6.5 2way Coaxial 60w rms 180w peak on the rear, also a different amp for my 2x12" mtx subs, Im using aftermarket android tesla style head unit. I added a line out converter lci7 then connect the 2 amps, but I feel a little incomplete, I bought the gbl gto tweeters you recommended in one video aslo bought the BZRK tweeters because they look nice as well, haven't installed them yet because the ohm doesn't add up, can you please recommend me something to complete a good sound, I'm thinking to go with 2 way component speakers and trying to decide for a good midrange speakers for rear since I have the tweeters, I'm even willing to add 2 more 5 inch speakers and modify the rear doors if necessary! You have a lot of experience what should I get for the new amp that I got! I would really appreciate you bro... Really need your opinion and suggestions 🙏 I will copy and paste this to your videos till I get your attention 😁
I just purchased 4 of the JBL Club 622 model. I haven't seen any info on them anywhere? Are they newer version or older? I powered them with a nice Polk amplifier. They are badass!
I know the topic is subjective among viewers but which speaker would you choose for best tweeter? Looking for clean, bright sound, not concerned about bass. Thanks.
I have a 2008 jeep wangler it has room for 6.5 what 4 speaker system with amp would you use and what bass speaker would you use with amp if needs a separate amp
Hey Planning to change the base speakers for my jeep jl sound bar It comes with pair of 4.5 and 3.5 inch speakers Also im just changing speakers of soundbar Any suggestions? 6*9 or 6.5? Which model to go for? Also i will be adding an amplifier
Which one do you think is better Alpine ss65 or JBL GTO 629.....? They have same design and almost same price. Just looking for a good base and good tweeter sound.
We all know running components instead of coaxial sounds better. I recommend running Audiopipe subs, a crossover and a tweeter. I have 4 Audiopipe APMB 6x8’s, 4 Audiopipe CRX-203 crossovers and 8 Alpine tweeters in my F-150. I know people like to blab and brag about their systems. I know. I know. However, I was genuinely surprised at the clarity of this setup. I did use a lot of QuickRoof aluminum tape in the doors and cab for sound deadening too. The Audiopipe 6x8’s surprised me with how clear and loud I got mids and mid to low bass from them. They actually kick. I am using a quality head unit, equalizer and pure copper cables. It’s not easy to get 6x8’s that actually kick. Believe me. I’ve tried several coaxial brands. Pioneer, Alpine, Infinity and Rockford Fosgate trying to get four 6x8 door speakers to kick in my F-150. If you have an F-150 then you know what I mean. Try the setup I just mentioned.
What about Memphis? You completely left a staple in speakers 🔊 since 1965 out of your review. Memphis speakers Rock! Also the 6 to 8inch",down firing PIONEER Alphasonik are a huge Amazon seller. I bought 2 and one shit the bed but the other one is rocking my truck with the kickers. What a great bass combination. You get the floor rumble plus the normal powerful bass and it's just an awesome sound!
I come from the "kicker" and "Punch" days, so I'm out of the loop on new stuff. I'm looking for a cheaper stereo setup. I have spots for 4 4x6's and 2 6.5's and room for a single din head unit. I am not adding any amps or subs. I would like to get a single din hu with a 7" or 8" slide out/in (sorry..idk the proper name for the style) hu. Being that I said cheaper.. that style hu may not be possible. Only requirement on the hu is that it is Bluetooth capable. Would you have any recommendations on speakers and hu's? Thanks
Was back and fourth between the club 6520 and the GTO629 and decided to spend double and just got myself a pair of the GTO629 for my del sol after finally upgrading the stock head unit to a Kenwood with 50W/ch. Now I'm trying to figure out of I should get another coax pair or a component set to put in the doors. But idk how to install stuff
What are the settings on the jbl gto 629 twitter. From the factory it is in the less bright setting? and if you press the button the tweeter becomes brighter?
Have you reviewed 2 ohms speakers, I know they are hard to find, I am using both 6.5" & 8" versions of the ds18 PRO SM motorcycle speakers, loud and clear, Wolfram audio W 125.4 ab, about 175 watts at 2 ohms per channel
Off topic but what would be good setup with 4- 6x9s. 2- 3.5? Tryin to replace all speakers but don’t know if I should do full range in rear deck , component 6x9 in front doors and 3.5 in dash any feedback is appreciated.
Lol I’m here because I’m running the pioneer door speakers. There ok for replacing your 20 year old stock door speakers but don’t have the quality of sound I’m really looking for.
Would you please do some reviews on JBL ARENA EXP VS FOCAL UTOPIA M?... I would love to see some high end speaker comparisons... Because that's what I'm looking at getting.... 1 of them 2. Which, believe me... Are the best you can get right now by FAR!!!! BERYLLIUM TWEETERS BABY!!!!! 🤯🤩😍👑🏆🥇💎❤️
i went for the cheap PYLE GEAR 6.5" for 33$ came with set of 6.5" speaker, crossover boxes and tweeters. im running it below clipping from HU and amazed by the sound.
VERY helpful. I have stock kia 2011 that are blowing, so inevitable "adult" toy to play with. I was looking at the JBL on your review, but cant help but to just spring for these. Not based on the numbers, what is your feedback quality wise etc. I cant find your review on it.
Hey Mike I know most of these videos are a few months old but I have a question. Looks like Orion XPM654MBF is your top pick for 6.5 midrange speaker but sold out everywhere and may not be back. Do you recommend something close to this at the same price point? Ive been religously researching before making a purchase so your videos have been great. But you got me sold on the Orion's and they are gone lol have you happened to test the alphasonik BM65 by chance $69 pair on amazon 100 db rating 150rms 600 peak don't seem to play as high of hertz 15-80 but would love to know if you tested them
The reason those cheap speakers are top sellers is because the people whose buying them are the people who only need there speakers replaced so they have something to listen to and ain't into big systems or want to pay a lot of money for them, so they look for cheap speakers and choose the brands there familiar with... Now the JBL GTO Stadium speakers are bought because of there reputation, those speakers are phenomenal. I had 4 of the GTO Stadium coaxials 6x8's in one of my cars and i loved them, they were very loud a crisp for coaxial's. I didn't have them running off an amp, but I had one of those Sony head units that had a built in amp. Sonic Electronix put it on an amp dyno and it did around 45 watts rms per channel so the speakers were only getting about half their rated power and they still screamed. They have a sensitivity rating of 93db so they got pretty loud on low power. And they were super clean and had a decent amount of bass at high volume, i would definitely recommend them.
@@promo130 Yes they do...the sensitivities are mostly higher than "non", and most are bullet or compression types. Times have changed in car audio, most "non" super tweeters have the same or similar frequency ranges as most "super" tweeters. The real difference is the build materials, sensitivity, and power handling.
I don't have experience with speakers on motorcycles but the ds18 pro sm's are motorcycle rated, they are 2 ohms, I'm using 2 x 6.5 and 2 x 8" for mid-range and the 8s have a lot of bass too!
I have 4 x 6.5" crescendo pwx and they are great for midbass, the larger ones should be even better, the d4s 65s are rebatched deaf bonce Wich have a very high reputation for being very good mid-range/bass speakers
@@crimsonsamuraiftw Hi there! New to this. The cheapest components I found on line were the Soundstream PF.6 Picasso Series 6.5”. I noticed that neither Mike nor any of his audience put much emphasis on the Soundstream Brand in general. My question is Is it because the Soundstream Products are generally not good sounding or perhaps build quality is bad compared to other brands? My second question is if Soundstream is indeed a brand to steer away from then what is a good alternative to take its place in terms of price point and sound quality? Thanks
I have skar fsx with the factory tweeters in one car and kicker cs in the other one. I love the skars but the kickers are pretty decent. I was given a set of those jvc I thought about putting in the rear. I might try them out today
I test many speakers and different brands 6.5 ,so in my experience Rockford Fosgate are the king like R165x3 this particular model is real good quality of sound and very powerful, better sound than JBL Infinity Kappa Skar audio blaa blaa blaaa,Kicker is the second good speakers because the tweeters they install are so crispy sound tropical and fresh, I recommended this 2 brands and the price is not bad 👌🏽
Which one would you recommend for deck power ? I have a 2019 Altima with stock speakers. I want to upgrade them and i want to add bass but I still want to have room in the trunk for my daughters stroller
I used boss 6x9 once and the tweeters shorted out my amp and ive had others that came apart without an amp so not very trusted worthy now i will say they sounded ok good new but nobody wants speakers that short out good or baf
GTO - premium/higher level, gx - entry level. If you're just running them straight from head unit GX will do fine, but if you're juicing them then you will need the GTO or something else that can handle it.
Focal’s entry level is still over $100. That’s gonna deterred 80% of the casual buyers. I loved alpine since the 90s but after listening to their type R components on a DD amp, I was not impressed. Infinity kappa or CDT way better at lower price. Alpine type R subs can’t even compete with sundown SAs.
Alpine are ok but not in the same league as Focal. Other top European brands to consider are Rainbow, Hertz, Helix, Audison, Eton, German Maestro (formally known as MB Quart).

I want you to test this one for me, Gravity WZL8 8 ″ Midrange Bullet Loud Speaker.
Hey Mike can you review the Crescendo PWX and the Down4sound 65. Thank you.
Yep soon!
The Crescendo UN series...
I have 4 x 6.5" crescendo pwx and they are great for midbass, the larger ones should be even better, the d4s 65s are rebatched deaf bonce Wich have a very high reputation for being very good mid-range/bass speakers
Hi there I have a 2006 jetta with 6,5" midbass 4" midrange and a 1" tweet
What is the best component speakers that I can get ?? Need some help
passive - american bass; active - ds18; in between - jbl, rockford; premo - sundown neopro
Thanks
I wanna see you test concrete audio and sundown neo pro
What 6.5 u recommend for someone with 2 15" subwoofers
Orion mid6.5 u need loud mid
@@sherryhilbert7888 are the magnets big, if so they won't fit in my doors. Looking for some loud and midbass shallow mount.
Sundown Audio NeoPro
I have skar fsx with the factory tweeters in one car and kicker cs in the other one. I love the skars but the kickers are pretty decent. I was given a set of those jvc I thought about putting in the rear. I might try them out today
I'm thinking JL c7's or maybe focal or audiofrog
What's up Mike haven't seen you in a while we need some new content I love ur show very informative and on point!!!!!!!
@artoferof7580 JBL STADIUM, or Rockford Fosgate the new models 👌🏽
Great information!
I used boss 6x9 once and the tweeters shorted out my amp and ive had others that came apart without an amp so not very trusted worthy now i will say they sounded ok good new but nobody wants speakers that short out good or baf
I have the kicker 46 6.5 it sound really good compared to my car stock speakers but not in more than of 6 month one of them is breakdown
Look for up grade speaker for ram 2021 1500 stock head
You should review the Crescendo PWX Mids.
Great video
What’s the difference between the JBL GTO629 & the JBL GX628?
GTO - premium/higher level, gx - entry level. If you're just running them straight from head unit GX will do fine, but if you're juicing them then you will need the GTO or something else that can handle it.
JBL got 629 really rock's. I think that is the best. Stadium series.
decent speaker and good price
kICKER and Rorford Fosgate increased their prices around $80 😞
Running JVC on a audio control amp sounds great
Wow audio contol amps are so expensive and jvc speakers are so cheap, interesting!
@@Krotos1970 PEI tweeters poly cones basically the same found in many brands
Friends
I want to change my Xterra speakers but I don’t know what’s the mining about the Ohm
I do have speakers 6”9 2 Ohm
6”5 2 Ohm
Ground Zero 6.5" GZCK 165XSPL (yellow basket)
..... we're not buying them because we can't get them there so popular. Hello?
Fidgeted 165r or alpine s-s65
Would you chose no amp
Caro - Zapco st-4xsq
Barato - Skar rp-75.4ab
Si te importa solo la potencia máxima:
Caro - sundown sfb-200.4d
Barato - skar sk-m400d o cualquier audiopipe
Si necesitas para los bajos el sundown sfb-1000d es una bestia diminuta y barata
Amigo muchas gracias por tus consejos y reapuesta rapida, de nuevo felicitaciones por tu canal
What about components?
I will do it later )
Why no Alpine or Focal ?
Because they were not in the top 10 for sales
@@derekscherban3952 Thanks Captain
Focal’s entry level is still over $100. That’s gonna deterred 80% of the casual buyers. I loved alpine since the 90s but after listening to their type R components on a DD amp, I was not impressed. Infinity kappa or CDT way better at lower price. Alpine type R subs can’t even compete with sundown SAs.
Alpine are ok but not in the same league as Focal. Other top European brands to consider are Rainbow, Hertz, Helix, Audison, Eton, German Maestro (formally known as MB Quart).
Rockford fisgare is not 34 any more🤷♂️ why they raise the price they should keep it the same
50% of speaker to consider are the ones that fit your vehicle, the other 50% is your Budget. Paper cones are more volatile in heat and humidity.
I don't know about boss I guess they are selling cheap for a decent sound
