thank you very much, I was looking for cheaper/easier options for cymatics kits than the $1,000+ jobs with electronic oscillators. I did try this the other day, but with salt on a plate, but I didn't remove the speaker grill. I now have something else to try, many thanks!

^^ ! the amazing thing about this incredible cymatic project,
    in my opinion ,
is this '' Selfie Ring Light'' turned into something REALLY USEFULL MADE FOR SCIENCE !!!
and NOT only used for boring usual SELFIES like everybody does :)
RESPECT n full of imagination! thanks again for teaching us!

Hey shawn! Your work is incredible! When i do the same experiment my patterns aren't geometric. There is randomness in them. Please help.

To create a proper cymascope you have to offset the resonant frequency of the speaker or driving system so to speak. This can usually be done by running your audio/frequency output through an equalizer to tune the system before you start creating patterns from frequencies. You could start by looking at a known pattern for a specific frequency and then tuning the system until you get the same pattern. Much in the same way you tune musical instruments. I would also make a different down-light and use a darker LED light such as a purple or blue. This should make the patterns more pronounced. I would also likely enclose the system in a PVC or other tube to make sure no external light interferes with your images

I saw a video of a guy who built one of these speakers into his car that was so powerful you can see the metal of the vehicle wiggling around four inches what is it like to touch the metal when it's wiggling I wanna know

Are there any other speakers you might recommend that could similarly be used for a cymatics demonstration?

Would it work if you play a Drake song or any other artist, for instance, and seeing the cymatics produced?

never Drake are you kidding? Every time I start to turn up the volume I see NO in capital letters. It's all just a simulation.
