probably he started JUST BEFORE the eclipse use fire bending to breakout the cell and then his martial art to breakout of prison while the fire bending was out.
Iroh can actually draw his firebending from other source, not just the sun. It the very ancient way of firebending. To not spoil much about that part I will let you discover that yourself in later episodes.
@@alwaysBehindY0u Oh I have seen it, but its not actually that he is not drawing firebending from the sun, its just that he has a purpose for firebending that is not violence.

As you probably know, Mark Hamill voices the fire lord. When he says certain words, I can hear the Joker! Do you see the irony of Hamill’s role in the show? In Star Wars he was a hero who defied an evil tyrant with lightning powers and had no means of defending himself. In Avatar, he voices/portrays a very similar bad guy and Zuko has a way of defending himself against lightning!
About your Dai Li dilemma -- I think in this world there were always going to be people who either didn't care about the Fire Nation's expansion, or outright supported it. I would guess the Dai Li simply saw Azula's takeover of the capitol as the pathway to a new system/order that would further benefit their power
Remember when King Bumi talked about neutral gin to Aang, well uncle Iroh also knows about it that's why he was working out in secret so he can escape when the eclipse comes and also the reason he told that female guard to stay home he didn't want to fight her because she was nice to him when he was at his lowest.
I will say that that wasn't Katara's first kiss. The writers confirmed that Katara's first kiss was Jet offscreen. Also there's the whole ambiguity on whether or not Aang and Katara kissed in the Cave of Two Lovers; personally I like this one to be their first kiss so I tend to think they didn't but it's ambiguous so...
the reason they said Aang shouldn't fight the firelord is because he very likely isn't strong enough to beat him at this point, especially with the possible assist from Azula and the guards and whoever might be beside him. Even with Sokka and Toph's help they'd still be stuck in the heart of enemy territory against some of the strongest firebenders, fighting later just means they don't lose now which sounds better.
The way I see the Dai Li is: they are like mercenaries that go to the highest bidder. If you think the Fire Nation is going to win and are treated good by the fire nation, they why not stick with the Fire Nation. They have seen the vulnerability of the Earth Kingdom.
15:45 this man already met with aang before, on the book 1, he's the man who invaded northern air, and the book 2, he's the man who commanded the drill to the wall of ba sing se
The Dai Li are all about self preservation and gaining more power, they will side with whoever is at the top of the totem pole, they genuinely believed that Azula was their best chance
Dai Li are like mercenaries, loyal to the highest bidder and just because you’re from the earth kingdom doesn’t mean you have to support them, especially if the Dai Li knew of all the corruption in the earth kingdom
Also, the earth bending chakra (the root) deals with survival. The dai li were probably afraid of losing their lives to Azula if they didn’t continue to follow her at that point. Surrendering means staying alive
The dai li is going to cling to wherever the power is which is the reason they clinged to Long Feng and as soon as they saw that he wouldn't be in power they switched to where it was. They're purpose is to stick to the powerful side....they couldn't give two shits where that side is from.
The original plan was never to fight during the comet, but just before it to give Aang as much time to train as possible, and still avoid the power boost
Just watched your reaction right now. And I love it. I like it when you know Sokka is wrong for wasting time but also you understand his and Azula's plans. A lot of reactors put all the blame on Sokka

As far as the Dai Li go I’m pretty certain they never really cared about the earth kingdom in general they saw themselves as the top league earthbenders and basically just followed whoever was in power at the time regardless of what element they possessed or didn’t possess.
I could be totally wrong here, but I always saw the Dai Li as brainwashed/ broken soldiers who were conditioned to serve a master from early childhood. Their master may have been Long Feng but he gave the command over to Azula. Azula was a more dominant master, took over and the Dai Li followed, like they were conditioned to do.
@@onceyouwheeinyoucantwheeout I haven't either besides it's a minor spoiler at best the show practically flat out said it by itself, besides he'd probably go looking for himself to confirm it sooner or later anyway...
The worst part about the Dai Li is that they had the perfect chance to end the war here and now if they just double crossed her during the eclipse. They could of taken out Azula and the fire lord then and there seeing how close they were to them
I don't see how that would have done much for them tho...they only have a few minutes and then they would be surrounded by firebenders who would execute them for killing the royal family
well, with or without the comet fire lord Ozai is the most powerful fire bender in the world (confirmed by the creators). with the war lost, team avatar is at a disadvantage at this point. Also, as aang is not fully trained (no fire bending at all) it is unlikely that aang would win against the fire lord now...
The Dai Li already knew they were toast when Azula managed to get into Ba Sing Se. Azula is the more competent leader, the Earth King can't rule, and the Dai Li is a more formidable force than the King's council of generals. It's only a matter of time before the Fire Nation follow Azula's lead and conquer Ba Sing Se. Their best bet is to ally themselves with the Fire Nation.

17:20 The Dai Li agents have spied on, kidnapped, tortured, and killed Earth Kingdom civilians for years now under the control of Long Feng. They were probably doing that before Long Feng too honestly if they were able to, from birth, trick the Earth King into his ignorance of the 100 year war. The question is why would they betray their own people once Princess Azula came along. When the Avatar came to overthrow Long Feng, and by extension the Dai Li, they had to choose between siding with the Earth Kingdom and probably being tried for their crimes or side with Princess Azula to protect themselves. There is really no one in the Earth Kingdom to protect them once Long Feng is defeated by Azula. They retain their freedom in exchange for working for the Fire Nation, and never need to be charged with Earth Kingdom crimes, thrown in jail, tortured, killed, etc.
My theory about the dai li even though they may be earth kingdom citizens now, they could have family that align with the fire nation. That’s just my theory in my opinion.
9:25 there was serious risk to be accused of treason and lose everything for the Dai Li. its simple the Dai Li sides with whichever side they deem to be more powerful. And they knew Azula was much stronger. They have no loyalty once their leader turns out to be the weaker leader they'll drop em like a sack of bricks.
Nah, Aang would've lost if he faced the Fire Lord after the Eclipse then, and that would've been checkmate. Aang's main advantage was having 8 minutes of a benderless Firelord to defeat him, in every other way once its over, he is at a major disadvantage. Aang doesn't have firebending at all at this point, so he's got very limited defense against a firebending master; not to mention the time crunch forced him to be more of a jack of all trades in the other elements, aside from air he's not a true master in all of them quite yet. This whole plan was a Hail Mary from the start but it was worth trying, and although they've lost so many people, at least they have one more shot to take the Fire Nation down.
The Dai Li aren’t truly loyal to anyone. They only pick the side that benefits them the most or whoever they see as the winner. They have to be the most snake organization in fictional history they have no morals 😭
