Intriguing. Is the DC rectified AC or generated in the building on the left of the EAF? It would seem the losses incurred in the DC supply would make this less power efficient than an AC unit. I could be totally wrong in my assumption but would that be the case. Thanks for your video.

I imagine that similar to DC arc welding, polarity control lets you transfer more heat into the material, reducing losses.
