The Real Streets of Johannesburg, South Africa! 🇿🇦

  • Johannesburg South Africa was not what I was expecting!
It’s okay, I love Africa and encountered no problems, only stares and who can blame them? South Africa has gone through a lot of racism in the previous years and I find this country to be very divide amongst skin colour.Today’s video starts with a 3km walk through Hillbrow towards the Ponte City Building.
Hillbrow is an innercity residential neighbourhood of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is known for its high levels of population density, unemployment, poverty, and violent crime.
In the 1970s it was an Apartheid-designated "whites only" area but soon became a "grey area", where people of different ethnicities lived together. From there I met up with two new friends who showed me around this iconic Ponte City building from top to bottom.
Then I continued my walk through Hilbrow alone.
To conclude today’s video I took a 1 hour taxi around Johannesburg to see the rest of the whole city.
I didn’t find anyone on RUclips that has created a detailed tour of Johannesburg, so I took it upon myself.
I welcome your feedback! And much more to come.

I have lived in JHB CBD for one year I can tell you as a white guy it does get dangerous at times. It's very fast paced, good vibes sometimes but often times you get targeted as a white person. I got robbed 6 times, saw 2 people get shot, seen people getting driven over and people getting mob justice. To be honest I haven't fully recovered yet. Now granted my experience in the city wasn't good .

It’s refreshing seeing tourists not just going to sandton or Cape Town 😂 But @ the same time, we are afraid when tourists go to places like this & are robbed or murdered.
South Africans will carry the blame no matter who committed the crime.
So even though you are brave, we don’t encourage tourists to go to places where the crime is so high & it’s so dangerous.
We’ll rather send you to Soweto to experience our own indigenous cultures & learn about our rich albeit sad history.

Chris u must understand one thing that people like that u met 24:45 . Problem with them is not that they don't get job the problem is they don't do job with dedication and honesty they often are caught stealing , not coming to work on time , lot of stay absent most of the time, they always work slow and demand high wages and salary . They will never tell u all that because it's the reality . They will always blame the foreigners for taking the their deserving job. Even the employer prefers to employ foreigners because they are very honest and hardworking and very very dedicated towards their work and demand less wages and salary. I am telling u from experience i have lived and worked in South africa for 12 years so you can trust me .

Tough call. I was once homeless, and now I'm a self made multi millionaire. When I was on the street 30+ years ago, its because I didn't have a family to help me. Not everyone collecting cans on the street in South Africa or anywhere in the world is a bad person. Victim of circumstances plays a role. That being said, we as humans can never judge someone until we really understand their situation. I also own a business here in Toronto with many employees, and I see some are motivated to work, and others show up late, miss days, etc. So this is a common occurrence across the globe!
