Got a wallet for Christmas... Love it!
I admit they are nice and look good but this sneakerhead and reseller culture ruines them. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars to dress a nice looking shoe. In the end it becomes a speculation tool and if not put on a feet it's wasted (for now they cost more or less 120 $ but i don't like seeing them resold on stockx and not in the official store, it's 10-20 dollars wasted on a guy that bought it just to resell it just after the sold out).
Try the Nike acg Lowcate. Basically like the acg gps. From my experience they go hard too.
@@MysteryASMR777 the white versions can kind of pull off the gps look. All of the other colors are too obvious they aren’t a flat style shoe. Thanks for the heads up!

Thats what nike wants. Reselling culture makes you want to buy the hype shoes so if nike restocks you will go to lengths copping it from nike stores.

I cannot imagine the type of mindset that would lead a person to tell another that they should not be wearing an athletic shoe at the gym.

I find all this sneaker info interesting but I’ve never been a sneaker wearer. i came to Rose Anvil for boot videos and watch all the sneaker videos. I’ll never understand the obsession with sneakers. I enjoy learning more about the tech or lack there of and the hype that these marketing departments use. Thanks Westin & Caulin for a fun video

I love all of the history and info you guys provide. If I could get the GPS at retail, I probably would. Though I already have quite a few shoes in my rotation.
Shoes are not made by robots but by underpaid workers who live in very poor conditions. Most of them risk their lives to produce these hyped sneakers. I would appreciate if you would do a video about this.
Bought a pair of the sulfur ones last week on resale. Loved the look and now totally love the feel. Ordered another pair while I can still get hold of them. Shame there wont be any more.

I'm a size 13 Men's in Jordan 1's, Nike Air Max 1s. Get the Men's 12.5 in the archive color, the fit with normal socks is great!

In regard to sizing - I got the size 12 in the white color way. They’re are a tiny bit roomy, it comfortable - about 1/2” space between my toes and the end of the shoe.
In your opinion if I got the sulfur in 11.5, do you think the length will still be okay?

How do you get a new sole? Does Nike sell the black layer on its own with the pattern? Or would a shoemaker just do some other threaded pattern sole?

I just got brown version too. Didn't like the look of them online, but once I tried them in store. I actually prefer them to the grey.

I've got some question for you. Why are shoe toeboxes shaped the way they are? Why aren't they not shaped more like the natural shape of your foot? Barefoot shoes are shaping shoes like the natural shape of the foot but is there a reason why shoes weren't made in that shape historically? Did our ancestors know something that we don't know or have forgotten? Did the figure something out through trial and error that informed them as to what shape of a shoe was best?
Anyway, love the chanel. I watch all of your shows. I haven't purchased any of your boots yet, emphasis on yet, mostly because I'm trying to go more barefoot this year. Dyneema is so solid, totaled my Harley at 100 with some Dyneema pants on saved my body a bit. MYard shoes are sweet but too pricey now. General purpose shoes are very solid and cool.
I just bought a pair of the brown ones below retail cause I was sold on them by Rose Anvil, and now I'm seeing Tom is basically getting cancelled for some yikesy stuff. I like the sneaker, and am just gonna have to deal cause it's not worth reselling to me, and I'll just have to separate the art from the artist, but damn.

It's really unfortunate that the GPS doesn't come in extended sizes. I'm a size 16/17 and love the color blocking.

I would love to see a comparison between this and the ACG Lowcate, which has zero hype around it, is easily obtained in various colors, is a similar price point and seems to be a similar construction quality as the GPS.
Very astute observation/question. I have both and over the last twelve months had often noted the similarities. For mexico the main difference is that the Lowcate is incredibly roomy in the forefoot. I would say the Lowcate is the perfect shoe for wide footers/people that like room to move their toes who want a utilitarian shoe.

@@bollocks2usernames I bought the adidas hyper turf and found them to be rigid and uncomfortable. I was thinking about buying the acg lowcate but read reviews theyr also heavy and rigid. Would you say the GPS are less rigid? And less heavy or about the same?
Funnily enough, I happen to have them too, although I confess I’ve only worn them briefly. You’re right: they are fairly rigid and the sole doesn’t have much give. This is a feature of most walking shoes as they need to take the punishment and the Lowcate is very similar in that respect. The GPS is more flexible in the upper, but the (mid) sole is quite hard. I have to say the shoe I most gravitate to when I’m walking long distances is the ASICS Trabuco Max, I have put many miles on them and though they’re really a trail running shoe they are the perfect balance of a flexible, breathable upper and a midsole which is the perfect balance of absorb / rigid. They are so good that I bought a spare pair for when I’ve destroyed my first pair. Back to the GPS briefly, I found I had severe heel slippage with them as the collar on the GPS is almost non existent, it’s wafer thin in parts and doesn’t bulge to hold the food in place, so in my humble opinion they’re not well suited to clocking up many miles. That said, they’re probably the most stylish / have the most sneakerhead cache. Hope that helps!
Wyatt and Dad cobblers did some great recrafted shoes and boots for me
First, if a shoe company wants to find people who will overpay for a sneaker, good for them. I like my Dad shoes from New Balance. I'm old, my feet hurt from a lifetime of working on my feet, and comfort is king. Each foot prefers one brand over another, same for work boots. Fashion? Not an issue for me. Were the GPS mass produced and easy to find I feel it would sell like hot cakes.
Try the Nike acg Lowcate. They are a real gps that don’t have a hype train inflating the market
Next video should be of the new balance 2002r a great all purpose shoe from new balance with higher quality materials than the Nike gps

I'm confused how these offer anything new to the market. They may be a new concept for Nike but "functional," "practical" sneakers have been produced for decades by outdoor brands.
These frequently have suede uppers (high quality 1.6-1.8mm in some cases) and are marketed for easier hiking and for walking to the start of climbs.
They are usually stiffer and have firmer cushioning than conventional sneakers and deeper lugs on the outsole.
Brands like Merrell and Danner do them in the USA and Scarpa are probably the European brand with the the biggest range but many other outdoor brands also produce them.
These are also great general purpose holiday sneakers if your holiday is not sedentary and involves travelling and exploring.
So i guess this guys whole "flooding the market to fight the resellers" didn't work for Jack considering 11 months later, I can't get my hands on a pair whatsoever. Thanks Tom

My son got me into reselling sneakers as a fun past time. I've purchased and sold several different hyped sneakers, but the Tom Sachs GPS OG pair I'm having a hard time parting with. I honestly think it's a pair I will keep for myself. It's a sneaker for anyone and I feel as an older woman I could pull them off much better than a pair of dunks.
Are there any other sneakers you also really liked.
@@hawkevick9184 - good question. I like the looks of the dunks, but the quality and comfort are just not there. I've tried the Adidas Ultraboosts and the comfort is good, but the knit material squishes my toes. My favorite shoes are my Birkenstocks! I know, ugly. So, so comfortable. On the sneaker front, Adidas seem to be the most comfortable. When you get older it tends to be all about comfort!

I don't think the waffle story is true. Actually the outsole is more like a waffle mold, not a waffle. So it could be inspired by the mold, but you don't get that sole by pouring gum to a waffle mold.
I think these are nice shoes but in general I don't get his popularity. I also don't like the Neistat clones he created.

What an annoying shoe! I'm not a sneakerhead at all but these look like a solid, no-nonsense pair that I would get for, well, general purpose wear in warmer weather when I'm not in boots. But it's just some sort of limited release thing you can never actually buy? Obnoxious.
It’s another shoe with the claim that everyone can get it, but in reality, you have to get it for resale. I do believe that is false advertising. People shouldn’t have to go to resell for fucking show. Sneaker culture is cancer at this point.
