This helps me so much! Thank you. Every year I plant seeds from 300 lb pumpkin, every year I get tiny pumpkins.

The young leaves, stem, tendrils, even the flowers can be eaten. I grow pumpkin plants not for the fruit but for the young shoots and flowers. The small hairs come off the stem quite easily if you know how. When cooked right, they're yummy veggies, juicy, sweet, chewy and crunchy.

They’re delicious! I cook them as if they were a mix between spinach and brussels sprouts. Very delicious

I have a pumpkin with only 5 leaves i transplanted, very small. It has what looks like a bunch of early flowers on it, how can I tell those from secondary vines? Should I pick them until it grows more as its tiny now?

Yellowing on the leaves can be a lot of things but is usually an imbalance of some sort. I believe the leaves here on Dave's plant could have been due to excessive nitrogen as we were pumping it pretty full of it early on. Lack of absorption due to a couple cold nights early one could have also been an issue. We leveled it out and also used a little manganese for an additional issue we had and within a week or two it corrected itself. A great resource for any issues with your leaves is from Mad Scientist Matt DeBacco. Check out his old presentation here: www.bigpumpkins.com/Attachments/Leaf_Problems_Summer_2011.pdf
