I’m not qualified to say whether this is the best rendition but it was her recording that introduced me to this piece in the 1970s and somehow it has a resonance… memory, discovery … it holds a special place for me
Musicians like her has combined consciousness and subconsciousness, as above, so bellow. Most of humans are not aware that they need to be aware of their consciousness and unify consciousness and unconsciousness. Hence her soul shines brillianly in the unified field of them creating the SACRED FREQUENCY. lOVE AND BLESS TO YOU MS. CHUNG. you are a creator. no doubt.
@ecodino I see what you mean - she has a grand scope of this piece, which naturally gives her performance dynamic intelligence and uniqueness. It's so supremely listenable because of this! One of my favorites now - along with Milstein, Hahn, and Fischer respectively.
Wonderful! If only this was re-released. I've searched high and low for years to get a copy of Chung playing Bach solo violin repertoire. Does anyone know how many she recorded? She is always my favourite violinist... If only she had recorded all Partitas and Sonatas, but in the absence of those Perlman remains close to my heart...
Surprisingly good performance. Normally I can't stand the bland and impersonal way many violinists seem to approach the chaconne (e.g., Hahn/Szeryng/Grumiaux). It is not a "showpiece" to impress your friends or a mathematical formula to be cracked either - it is a deeply personal expression of meaning. Chung displays that well, though with some superfluous fluff not to my liking. But during the times she plays honestly, the results are very good. Unfortunately, she misses the voices singing.

I have listened to her performance of this piece more than any other violinist. She is
fantastic!
Magnificent
Glorious. Hard to find words. Simply glorious
I was never a fan of her bowing style but her intensity in music rendition is something I like.

Thank you! Will be able to hear her live playing Bach Solo pieces this May in Carnegie Hall! She is the most phenomenal violinist to me :)

Amazing!!!good performance!!!
I wonder how she manages to generate such an epic and lush symphonic quality

I think that her recording in 1974 under the label of DECCA is the only one that you can find.
Yeah, its a pity about that finger injury of hers. .
by the way, when was this recorded?
Heifetz applauded it to be better than his, I have heard a long time ago.

Her Zigineurviesen is the best!
What do you mean by you "wish she still plays like perlman and others"? Just interested to know about what you think of her later playing.
@danijmay And Grumiaux! I thought there was another ...
