    Torres, my favorite guitar. This was played by master that time and now. Nothing gets better than this. I am glad that the guitar just doesn’t sit in a museum and we can actually experience what audiences experienced at that time now.

    Another exquisitely phrased Tarrega Mazurka, maestro, bravo 👏! Every note was given the attention it deserved. I also heard that Pepe was tuned to around 430hz pitch, which is authentic to Tarrega's time. Perhaps Pepe using gut strings would have been the only thing that might have made this performance more perfect. 😎

      100% agree.

    • @musictime23752
      @musictime23752 3 года назад +3

      @Konstantin Ridaya It depends on the gut strings, they feel a little different but really not that much. In 5 mins or so you can adjust to the feel and texture. He would need to adjust to the guitar he's playing here, (I'm sure he doesn't play it that often!) So he could definitely adjust to the strings too.
      I personally play with only gut strings, they are wonderful.

    • @Josh.Vanjani
      @Josh.Vanjani 3 года назад +1

      @Konstantin Ridaya Great question, Konstantin! They take an adjustment period, but like Brian said below, it's not that long of one. I'd be willing to bet that Pepe has played a set or two in his time! Thanks for sharing that symphony too, I hadn't come across it. I have a recording of Pepe playing "Aranjuez" with Neville Marriner, so I'm looking forward to hearing it!

      this guitar looks awfully small, check upper and lower bouts they’re narrower than normal to be a concert guitar and looks more like a parlor guitar or 7/8”

    • @Josh.Vanjani
      @Josh.Vanjani 3 года назад +1

      @@elmorocha4973 I'd most certainly agree it's closer to a parlor shape, Elmo; however, the 650mm scale places it in the full-sized category. In the 1860's the guitar was still undergoing its evolution from the Romantic Era shape of Sor and Carcassi. If you compare the later de Torres model (1888) that GSI has, both the nut width (48mm vs 50) and the body are wider--despite being both the same scale length--and closer to our "modern" equivalents (52 nut width is about average nowadays) The 650 scale is still standard for modern day guitars, whereas a 7/8 would be around 630mm. Hope this clarifies things 👍.

    The rubato is terrible and used at times because he can’t get to notes on time. It’s a fault of most guitar players and you don’t encounter it in piano. It’s anxiety inducing!

      @enriquemendez1507 2 года назад +2

      Oh yeah sure he can't get to the notes on time that's exactly what this master guitar player who smokes everyone in this comment section at rasquedo and tremolo is having issues with yep .. good catch! Here's a cake for your efforts 🍰

      @andrewpegman7959 2 года назад +1

      @@enriquemendez1507 Thanks, I like cake! He doesn't smoke people in this comment section. You don't even know their ability! I have passed all the Trinity guitar exams for one. I still stand by my comment. Rubato is lazy and annoying and rasquendo is really a flamenco technique btw. But I accept that every piece should have some tremolo, which is beautiful, and which many guitarists can perform :)
