- A single-cut on steroids! The SC-Custom II FR VB sports an original Floyd Rose 1000 locking tremolo that almost never goes out of tune, allowing for the kind of playing fans of Steve Vai, Eddie van Halen or Joe Satriani will know and love. Two Roswell LAF AlNiCo humbuckers cover all the bases from warm, rounded cleans to punchy breakup tones and full-on screaming leads. Loaded with 24 medium jumbo frets, the fretboard has plenty of space for artistic expression. FR trem, gold hardware, awesome vintage black finish: this beast has everything you would expect from an electric guitar of this calibre, both visually and technically.

Very cool! As always, your playing is brilliant! Definitely getting ESP vibes just as much as Gibson. Which is cool as well, since the inlays on the headstock remind me of both the newer Gibsons and the Les Paul custom types from Edwards (another ESP connection!). The headstock itself reminds me of older Yamaha Les Paul types as well. A nice mashup of brands that still seems kinda fresh. Excellent!

I had that guitar with the EMG Retroactive in them, It's such a shame I didn't bond with the neck cause it was objectively one hell of a guitar.
For those wondering, it's a D shape neck, and one with quite a large profile, I'm used to Modern Cs and thin Ds (think Schecter and Ibanez) and just can't do big Ds (ha)

In case anyone was wondering, the company responded to my inquiry the other day "...the Floyd Rose version won’t be available in other colors (such as HoneyBurst or OceanFlame) anytime soon unfortunately." So it looks like it'll always just be the black color exclusively, which is fine. It looks great and makes that one unique, but if you really want one in another color, then Xaviere pro 555 model might be for you. Only downside to those is they don't have 24 frets like the Harley Benton in this video, however they do have pickups that are insanely easy to swap out.

Yes, there is only one reason why I haven't bought this model yet, it doesn't have stainless steel frets, but knowing Harley Benton the update is already in the works 😄🚀
I'm absolutely torn between this and the Fusion 3 HH FR Roasted. If this had the stainless steel frets it would be ideal.

Classy looking guitar… for now. I don’t like how gold hardware tarnishes, and matte black finishes turn shiny in the wear spots. That being said, you sure can make any guitar sing!

series after I saw you play that Red-colored version while back in your last video. (Harley Benton SC-Custom Plus EMG BCF)
I saw on Thomann this black version with a Floyd-Rose... very interesting. I also have a nice Floyd-Rose on my EVH Wolfgang-Special. I am happy you just

beautiful playing.. as always. I am not so keen on Les Pauls, but i started on a cheap les paul copy in the seventies ("Asco" brand), so i am developing sort of an appetite for a paula type guit, this 24 fret floyd rose model may just be it, without breaking the bank. Cheers Jon.

the song was straight from heaven. The guitar sounds extremely good for the price it costs, think i might get it but not the FR version, id rather choose one with a tremolo but not a FR because of the tunning part and all that. Is there a version with a tremolo?

Would love to see you do a review on the Harley Benton EX-76. Explorers are not everonye's taste aesthetically but that guitar is so comfy to play, the neck is right where you want it for easy access up and down the neck. Curious what would be your opinion on it. Nice playing as always sir.

Hello Jon! I like the idea of a SC with a trem bridge. I had a Jackson Randy Rhodes tribute flying V with the Floyd Rose trem and locking nut. I absolutely hated it. It has more setup than I was used to, simply changing strings was a pain. It was just too fiddley for me. ( Simple mind...). I think I would like this guitar with a Wilkinson type trem and locking tuners instead. I don't know if this is even possible. I like the guitar, but the Floyd setup scares me off. I don't know if I could get used to it. How much does Thomann sell it for?

I am not a fan of the FR. and a couple of local techs refuse to work on them, I have a HB SC Custom I as part of my white guitar collection, it is also one of the three guitars I have ready for playing in my mancave!
I respect your stance on the FR but if techs refuse to work on them, that's a huge red flag for me...….they're NOT complex machinery and can be tamed very quickly with a bit of knowledge. That said, I'm hearing so many good things about the SC Custom I might have to get one ^^
most luthiers will work on FR...
@@MercutioUK2006 The techs I refer to are extremely good and have been in business since the early eighties , they refuse to work on them because they hate them and don't need the work, to get anything done by these guys you are looking at a three week wait minimum unless it is an emergency and you are a regular customer they will get your guitar fixed in time

I think the biggest problem with FR bridges is that the metallurgy on cheap bridges can lead to knife edges and component failure very quickly. The solution is simply to do some due diligence and make sure you avoid cheap production copies of "the real thing"...

Bad Tremolo and 400 Bucks for Roswell Pickups. No thanks. Harley Benton is goin many steps back. In the last years there were really good guitars, all with tesla pickups, but they phased them out, because they shrinkflate their prices.
Now HB is bad again. Like when i started in 2006. Roswell pickups are okay on a guitar up to 170 euro. Not above. They sound bad. All of them. They are cheap, mumpy, awful pickups. The humbuckers and the singlecoil.....i dont know if roswell knows how a singlecoil sound normally.
I bought a SC and DC Gotoh für 200 bucks with good teslas and gotoh hardware a year ago, and now i shall pay double the price for worse specs? No.
Luckily there are other brands like sire in the pricerange of 400 bucks which are way smarter. Or ibanez and yamaha.

If Sire released an L7 with a floyd rose and called it the "L7F" then I'd be all over that. Finding a decent LP style guitar with a floyd rose without breaking the bank is tough. Epiphone has the Ruby Alex Lifeson LP guitar but it's pretty expensive considering how cheap the pickups sound. The PRS Tremonti SE sounds pretty good but I hate that charcoal grey look (because looks matter so much on a guitar 😆) This Harley Benton seems like a good option for the money but I'm willing to spend a bit more if I can find one with a sunburst finish like Sire's Tobacco Sunburst or some kind of Iced Tea look from Epiphone. The discontinued Alex Lifeson model in Viceroy Brown was a good option when it first came out, but even used they're pretty much unobtainable at a decent price now.
