  • 9 Minute PPT presentation by Gary Lauder of Lauder Partners (a Silicon Valley VC firm) at the Center for IP x Innovation Policy (C-IP2) Annual Fall Conference. Session title: IP on the Wane: Examining the Impacts as Intellectual Property Rights Are Reduced.
Location was Arlington, VA on September 23, 2022.
This is a sequel to a speech of the same name that can be found here: • The Roll [sic] of Pate... . There is only about 10% overlap. That one is 30 minutes and provides a better overview and introduction to this critically important issue. If you have seen that, start this one at 2 minutes. This one makes important points that I wish that I had included in the prior, in particular: how big tech uses shills to lobby for the destruction of the patent system; the 1870's attempt by the railroad industry to destroy the patent system that almost succeeded; how inventor/entrepreneurs think differently and need a patent system to thrive-to everyone's benefit.
    Undefined acronym @ 4:57: SEP = Standards-Essential Patent(s)
