Four years ago I commented on your Numberphile video about the first skew dice, asking if you could make a full D&D set. You actually replied (which is how I found this channel) with "... there's nothing you can do to the regular icosohedron to alter the shape but still make it work as a fair D20. We were very sad - there is no skew D20." Did you think I'd forget that you LIED to me?? Nah jk I know what you said was technically correct, and it's cool that you've come full circle from how I started watching your stuff.
I'd love to see a d4 with a similar elongated tetrahedral shape but without the skewness. Having one face unambiguously on top is very nice, my favourite d4 that I use is your truncated tetrahedron.
It would be cool to see a video about why the dual of a fair die isn't also fair (e.g. why you can have a skew dodecahedron but not a skew icosahedron). Maybe it's stupidly trivial, but I'm not immediately seeing it in my head.
For a die to be fair, you need the symmetry group to be face-transitive. That is, all of the faces look the same. But you don't need it to be vertex-transitive. Taking the dual swaps these properties.
I'm not sure anyone actually said this yet, but the d4's layout could be improved. Each opposite face should add up to 5 [as most dice have the opposite sides equal to the amount of faces + 1]. So you should really have the 4 be opposite to the 1, and the 2 be opposite to the 3.
Love It, hi I have a question related to non Euclidian geometry In a world with non Euclidian geometry how does rain would work? I think it would be great if you coul make a video explaining how normal things will work in that world, if not I'm on just with how would rain work
Not exactly talking about rain, but Steve Trettel has an interesting article on many features of living in hyperbolic space: www.stevejtrettel.site/LifeInHyperbolic.pdf
Huh, something must be up with the website - it was there when I put the link in the description. I'll ask Robert to fix it. It should be on the top row of the linked page.
Yes, we do. If you look closely, all of the numerals on the skew dice are subtly skewed as well, although of course it isn't as obvious as with the pips.
The only mathematically fair shape for a d33 is a 33 sided prism or pyramid (with some way to stop it landing on the end or ends). Doesn't seem like a very usable shape.
Oh no... It was fine, the _whole channel_ was fine, until 4:56, he clearly had way too much fun making that. Have memes gotten to everyone's head by this point and became impossible to avoid? (yes they have) I guess this is just what spending too much time looking around at polyhedra does to you. Or maybe he's just upset that he wasn't able to skew the Icosahedron. The world may never know. Skew you, d20.

The dice compelled us to finally make it happen!

When you said they had opposite chirality I was hoping for the d10 to be both variants. And you did it. It just had to be done. Thanks!
The most dramatic D20 imaginable. I can imagine the subtle and less than subtle table shakes to adjust the outcome.
Dice lab: Lets make a d4 easier to read
also Dice Lab: Lets make the d20 harder to read
I actually really really like that d4, it seems geniunely nice to use and looks very satisfying.
You could perhaps drop it on the floor, lose it for a bit, and then step on it, without injury.
@@Kryptnyt Correction: Without MUCH injury.

I didn't even know, I subscribed to this channel 😂
A fellow CoC enthusiast? That skew-d100 would make a good addition to a CoC game.
great for characters tied to the far realm
When you wanna start a fight at a table, bring these.
I love the d4
I love hearing you explain these things, like a kid explaining their new favorite toy
Also fuck the ending got me
Actually love the D4. Regular d4's are so hard to read and annoying to pick up and roll easily.
These videos and dice are fascinating

This is what i imagine was going through golems mind when he first picked up the ring 4:50

What 's next? A skew d24? A skew d60? A dice tray with The Dice Lab label?
I keep thinking that we'll run out of things to do, but somehow we keep going!
A skew d60 would definitely pierce the veil of reality
The skew d6 is partway between a cube and a triangular diprism
I really want to get a skew dice set but I don't know what the cost is in Canadian dollars as I live in Canada.
There are some Canadian dealers listed on www.mathartfun.com/thedicelab.com/WhereToBuy.html - they might work for you.
I like a rhombic dodecahedron as an alternative to the standard d12
We have one of those as well: ruclips.net/video/JVw9QqFLqwQ/видео.html
Hey professor its Bruce! Haha I might have to buy this for my brother who is an avid DnD player
See if you can make the d20 less rounded.
It would have to be a bigger die to do that I think.
Do you know around how probable each side is?
Each side is equally probable
I can’t seem to find the full set on the website. Is the dnd set available as a set of 7?
I can't find a listing either. I would love to buy these!

@@henryseg thank you! Really awesome work. Excited to have a set!

Pretty cool idea
This is so unholy I love it
Do you still offer a d6 with pits? i think it looks a lot cooler because the pips are in skewed patterns too
Yes, we do. If you look closely, all of the numerals on the skew dice are subtly skewed as well, although of course it isn't as obvious as with the pips.
Can you guys make D33?

Skew you, d20.
Not all jokes are memes, but some memes are jokes.
Do group master: “you weren’t supposed to do that”
You can get 5 skew d10 00 for only 3 bucks?
I think that's a typo...I'll check with Robert.
Yep, we'll get that fixed soon, should be $12.
@@henryseg Keep that up for Black Friday ... Just kidding
Want
I read the title as “Sclew Bice Det”
Come on... The d4 was special! Also, there's a d10, and there's a percentile.
DnD, tripping out edition
Watching this video hurt my brain lol
My brain doesn't like this at all! 😰
I hate these, I'm buying a set immediately.
alternates dice
first lol
also cool dice
This is cursed
Nothing worth loving isn't askew
Triangular bipyramid would also make an interesting d6.
Edit: disregard that I'm an idiot.
Just mark the edges
Who made these needs to go to jail
this is a really weird comment why would you say that??
