I've been an avid Dean "fan" since mid 70s ...I have a wonderful collection of '50s magazines and newspaper clippings..so all of these photos are familiar to me ..... BUT how about slowing down the photos so new (as well as old) viewers can truly appreciate them ??!
I’ve heard some wild urban legends about Dean’s sexuality in my life, and only one of them ever bothered me (the worst one that floats around out there, I never cared if he was Bi, Queer, or Gay in secret…), but after seeing the way he is caught staring into these ladies’ souls (and chests) with the confidence of a man who knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was the best lay in Hollywood, and, he knew he had them dreaming about him alone in bed at night…. I gotta say… I now have serious doubts about the validity of those urban legends… I see a very straight man, and a full-blown admirer of the female form in all its glory, in many of these photos. R.I.P., to the most naturally badass, cool, talented, and mysterious man that ever lived.
I agree, he was a passionate man indeed. His eyes seemed to twinkle like frost when looking upon roses. Also he and Italian actress Pier Angeli were deeply in love for a time... before her mother broke the courtship apart.

I'm 76 & remember James Dean, before he made any of his three films, when he did smaller roles on t.v.! (In fact, my uncle's cousin, aspiring actress Dottie Harmony, had a small part in "Rebel Without a Cause". playing Natalie Wood's girlfriend!)/ My only connection to Dean was when in 1958, his screen buddy, Sal Mineo, made a personal appearance at my local theater, for his film "Dino"!/ In my opinion, considering Dean's propensity toward auto racing, smoking & other dangerous habits, he would not have had too long a life, anyway! R.I.P. James!
that's very fascinating , to be so closely connected with the film rebel without a cause. and yes, James deans smaller tv roles are indeed treasures of the screen. the lesser known things, particularly from the past, are so very beautiful, and in way cloak those old fashioned days in a softer lambent haze... which paints a more natural picture.

the film industry is a very harsh environment. those who were alone, and those without a family were vulnerable to the wacky and uncaring, unemapthic world of tinsel town. He did not survive the establishment's wrath. He is resting now, and his spirit is in a very beautiful place.
Well of course if you know his childhood. His Mom died of cancer when he was 9 and his Dad sent him back from California to Indiana with his Mom's body and his grandmother. He grew up on a farm with his Aunt & Uncle but always felt like an outsider from what they said
he wasn't bisexual. He had a stronger masculine energy . and having a feminine energy does not mean he was bisexual.. it just means he had a gentle nature as well as his other stronger traits.
