Thanks, they should absolutely design the trainer keeping its future evolution as a f-16 class indigenous fighter. I am expecting decent progress on our engine dev capabilities in the next 5 yrs through tech transfer & local R&D. With an Indian engine this could become a great multi-role fighter with very little dependencies & lower cost.

We should develop and invest in our future fighter jet programs like- - Tejas MK1 as 4.5 gen - Tejas MK2 (early 7 Squadrons) as 4.5 gen with improved capabilities - Tejas MK2 (4-5 Squadrons) as 5 gen minus with maximum possible 5th gen technology and indigenous engine - AMCA MK1 & HLFT 42 as true 5th gen fighter aircraft - AMCA MK2 as 5.5 gen and incorporates max. possible technology from 6 gen fighter aircraft and indigenous engines. And replace all American engines with indigenous engine options during their mid life upgrade. In this way we can produce higher no. of fighter jets and can make a balance between indigenous engine program and American engine & can utilise max technology and production line simultaneously.

We will have AMCA mk1&2 as Stealth fighter that will be party piece , Tejas mk2 as workhorse but still we will definitely need a stealthier workhorse . Apart from that if this can navigate though tough terrains of Himalayas while flying low and low speed , we will get perfect replacement of Jaguar .

They can't seem to concentrate on doing one thing right: The six companies could be: - Bharat-Russian Aeronautics Ltd. - Bharat Light Jets & Trainers Ltd - Bharat Medium Jets Ltd - Bharat Stealth Jets Ltd - Bharat Helicopters Ltd - Bharat Engines Ltd. Each of their projects needs to proceed in parallel. The CEOs need to be held responsible for their projects and show progress, or else they will be fired. Similarly, ADA too should be disbanded and made part of each of these companies. There is no point in keeping the R&D wing at arm's length from the organization that does actual manufacturing. It's an unnecessary diversion.
HAL needs to hire innovative designers! Merely copying European delta wing and canopy designs with conventional air intakes etc. only proves how HAL engineers lack creativity. Well I disagree with you somewhat. With limited resources we have, I would like to see a stealth version of Tejas mk2 with russian engine offered with 110 kn thrust. A completely new program will require atleast $1-2 billion for design and prototyping, while new versions of mk2 MWF will be a better, efficient and quick process to evolve.

Tejas ,hlft42 and mk2 don't make sense it would be better to go with hlft 42( trainer and combat version) and tedbf/orca with ge 414 or a similar engine and a 35ton amca and a bigger single engine jet sharing similar engine If possible al51 and that engine can be used for super Sukhoi also. With 2 engine we can solve all our problems and hope our govt will convince russia for al51 in a similar deal which we r negotiating with west(110kn engine).

Lack of our own aero engine is causing immense difficulties for India. Let us hope this major lacuna is somehow resolved soon.
One word of caution: even Russia is not supporting greater indigenization of the Su-30 MKI engine (AL-31FP).
HLFT42 is the solution can be made quickly with AL31 engine. It can come at par with F16.
Possibilities are endless here as it doesn't have canards so stealth will be more too

why dont we make tejas mark2 as single engine stealth jet
Tejas ,hlft42 and mk2 don't make sense it would be better to go with hlft 42( trainer and combat version) and tedbf/orca with ge 414 or a similar engine and a 35ton amca and a bigger single engine jet sharing similar engine If possible al51 and that engine can be used for super Sukhoi also. With 2 engine we can solve all our problems and hope our govt will convince russia for al51 in a similar deal which we r negotiating with west(110kn engine).
Indian Defense needs creativity and out of box thinking. For this needs people like you in defense ministry and defense Minister who has passion and interest. Otherwise our defense is driven by Dumb people.
