For Frieren, I experienced it through the anime. From what I hear the anime does actually add to the experience. But the manga is what attracted the director to putting his all into the project in the first place. So it's definitely gonna be a quality read too

Haikyu is probably my personal favorite manga/anime of all time. There's just something about the sheer grit and determination of those characters that made me feel like I have no excuse to be as lazy as I was. Thanks to Haikyu, I now go to the gym and play volleyball on a weekly basis!

@@marcelovillalva4547 The anime is better and here is why: all it does is add to the experience, and it never takes anything away like I can't think of anything that is better in the manga (other than the natural benefit of manga i.e. reading at your own pace) with the music, great voice acting, and some of the best animation of 2023 (which Frieren is a show that doesn't need crazy animation but it still got it). The manga is very good but the anime just takes it to the next level especially with the music; the soundtrack just adds so much to the show that was missing for me in the manga.

Frieren is one of the very few series for which I consider the anime adaptation better than the manga. It takes some minor scenes from the manga and elevates them and the voice acting is stellar. I think JoJo is one of few series where going with the anime is definitely the right call. It was made long after the manga, so filler isn't an issue, and the manga version can be harder to follow sometimes.
the Boruto manga has kind of an odd relationship with its anime. There's one point where a previously anime-exclusive character just shows up and an editor's note suggests you watch her arc in the anime to learn what her deal is. Also the villains all have numbered tattoos and numbers 7 & 8 are only in the anime.

Frieren is incredible. One of the, if not the, best Anime/Manga in the last 5 years.

You should add apothecary diaries to it. The light novel is really good, the anime too.

    Hey Merphy,
    Here are my two cents
Continue with the shorts. They can be a good device to provide frequent updates.
I don't know anything about Frieren, but its anime's reception was extremely positive.
I just checked and Naruto's chapter 48 would take you to the end of the Pain arc!!! I had thought that you might have completed the Sasori fight or the Kakuzu fight, so never expected you to reach so far so soon. Sadly, the Pain arc was peak Naruto. The Gokage Summit arc is still good but its all downhill after that.
My recommendation to start the next thing would be Shingeki no Kyojin aka Attack On Titan. The anime just got completed and it is a masterpiece!

I've finished the Frieren anime last week (it goes 'till the sixth or seventh edition of the manga) and it's my favorite anime...
So much so, that I already bought the manga and I'm starting to read it as soon as it arrives. So I guess I'll be reading it along with you!

Also so excited to hear your thoughts on Frieren. I loved the show.

Love your reviews Merphy. I know you're busy with reading, making videos, and life, but when you get the time I highly recommend Sand Land. It was a 14 chapter Akira Toriyama manga published in 2000 and one of his favorite projects. Keep up the great work.

I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on Frieren! I absolutely love it :) And if you end up liking the manga, I highly recommend the anime. The anime does the manga so much justice. It was such a joy to watch :)

Frieren is so good and is very much up your alley for fantasy and found family, I know its one of the more popular series right now, but theres so much to it and the anime has only gotten ~1/2 through the manga so far. I do think it would be a series you would want to watch after reading with how it holds true to the manga and adds more depth to the scenes.
I think getting Delicious dungeon divided into 2~3 videos (check ins?) would be pretty cool for seeing what you think of the series as it progresses along

I personally think this is a great video!
Gives us the audience time to get hyped about your reactions to upcoming projects and I just think these kind of videos are neat :P
(Same reason I put in a vote for shorts! If it’s not a lot more work for you ofc!)
And as a last note I just want to add:
Witch hat atelier! You have to read it at some point! Saw it lost out to Frieren (understandable, both are great), but I think you would love it! It is sooo good, the art is AMAZING! And the characters are sooo good!
(Also it’s only 12 volumes out atm, so not the longest read 👀👀👀👀👀👀)

Delicious in Dungeon is a really, really good series. It starts fun and then gets really deep the longer you go into it. It seems like your type of show, so I'm excited to see your takes on it!

I'm so excited you're going to be reading Frieren, I think that you'll definitely love it. Also I saw that Witch Hat Atelier was among the suggested manga you should read, and I think that once you are done with Frieren (and if you end up enjoying it) then you should read Witch Hat Atelier

I actually got finished watching an episode bfore watching this! And your right, it is a lot of fun!

delicious in dungeon is about a group trying to rescue one of their party members after they got beat by a red dragon(this is like the first thing we see in the series).
they have no cash to buy supply so they deiced to just scavenge whatever they can find in the dungeon.
the food parts are really a stealthy way to teach you about fantasy monster biology and the the dungeon ecology at large.
it has really good characters and pretty solid general world building(well it's mostly focused on the dungeon "world")
the mangka really like tabletop RPG's and wrote this one really well.
if you like tabletop RPG's it's a really good read/watch.

You're gonna love Frieren so, so much. And Delicious in Dungeon has the D&D antics vibes I reckon you'll get a great kick out of. Both of these anime are gorgeously animated so, even though you're reading them I still recommend watching too!
I'd be curious to see you watch Vivy -Flourite Eye's Song-. It's a short anime following the world's first autonomous AI songstress having to try to prevent an AI apocalypse 100 years into the future, but that doesn't begin to describe the emotional themes explored in the show. One of those you just have to watch.

I'm glad you enjoyed "Descending Stories"! At first, I didn't realize you were talking about "Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu" because I didn't know its English name HAHAHA. I watched it last summer and enjoyed it so much that it became one of my favorite anime. To anyone who hasn't watched it, I recommend it with all my heart!
Gonna watch your livestream Merphy :)
