  • In this video you will see me training my 9 week old puppy in a training session where I train the puppy and explain what I am doing and why. I am working on attention noise as well as working on teaching the puppy to be restrained using errorless learning rather than the more common practice of using extinction.
Here are the puppy training tutorials I mention in this video:

It’s amazing that the “eye blink” thing is not talked about more. I discovered it as a child as more than one of our pets would do the same slow eye blink to me. I started doing it back and they would in response.

Learned the eye blink from Jackson Galaxy (the cat guy). It works great with my cats and thought "hey, try it with the dogs". Works great with them, too.

@@janhankins911 I first noticed it with the cats too. But then I paid more attention and noticed the dogs doing it too. It seems more pronounced in cats but of equal benefit in both if you will.

I learned it with cats some 20 years ago... don't remember where I got it from.

I love the name Dream. It was really interesting to see how you adjust your training criteria according to what the puppy is able to do at the moment.

this is so lovely and helpful! i never worked on restraint so will do that today! have you ever considered writing a book with a list of things to do with a new puppy - perhaps a vagus training and playing schedule? What to teach first? You are easily the best trainer I have seen, wish I had found your videos when my dog was a little pup! Thank you so much!

This new series of videos with your pup are so good you have grown so much as a teacher and I love how transparent you are and how you describe why it’s not working how to fix it I love to see the real life little things that aren’t working out and you’re just going with it so beautifully. I couldn’t be happier for you especially with this new sweetie puppy. You are in your happy place clearly

This video is so helpful! Thank you for doing it. What do you recommend when the puppy mugs the treat bag? When my 8 week old lab gets frustrated, she dives for the treat bag and it's very difficult to divert her.

It is awesome, I have videos on that too. But this is to prepare the dog for when they get taken away from you during an emergency with a broken leg etc. Or just when at the park and they see a dog they want to play with but have to be on leash because the other dog is not friendly etc.

@@kikopup yes this video is great. I'm going to try to pratice this.
Personaly I didn't had the chance to do my pup veterinary care with his participation becase he came sick from the rescue. I'm tring to make it a less unconfortable experience and giving other more positive experiences.

Ive never heard of the restraint training before. I have a 1 year old border collie, can i train this method on him? or is there another method since he's older?

I'd love if you could show us some leash training when he's ready. My puppy chews on the leash when inside and freaks out outside when she can't go where she wants (tugging, jumping, the like. i'm afraid of her getting hurt)
