What I never got as a kid, was that even though Charn couldn't read, surely he would have recognized the "patern" on Jenny's scarf as words when he saw them.
She has a RUclips channel now detailing her acting roles and a showreel. Lives in Australia 🇦🇺 now apparently youtube.com/@nickystewart222?si=57YPPPNe372tg0wh I remember her playing Casey Down in the CITV show Chris Cross (a couple of those episodes are on RUclips) along with Simon Fenton, who played Scott. Shame I was only 9 in 1993 when that was on as she was pretty hot in that as well, especially in her grunge getup. Hard to believe that she, and the other 2 kids, are now nearly 50
Look and Read seems like one of those shows that you love as a kid, but when you watch it back as an adult you realise how bad it is! But it's actually still really good! The actors are decent (even the kids), the costumes give it that fantasy world feel, and it's educational without being boring! And I'm guessing by the CBBC logo in the corner, they still show it today, which is pretty cool!
Exactly where was that widgit hiding to remove the leaf from the sign and how did Scott and boris not notice it, there aren't that many places to hide on a mountain
Whenever the scarf is mentioned I start singing Aloha Oy. Anyone who's seen Leeroy & Stitch will know why. It's also disturbingly appropriate though considering how dark things are.
Well, he did just pile any old rubbish from various cupboards into that rucksack - it's no wonder a few more or less useless items ended up in there. :P
Maybe he can only read a little bit- like recognise his own name. Maybe he can't read big complicated things like the book for mending the veetacore, so he couldn't melt Jenny, because he needed her to read the book.
it's one-two-three-front-bottom Oo! There's gonna be a bitch-fight! Charn'll give Gorwen slap, then Gorwen's gonna erm, erm, knock some scenry onto Charn, accidentally, because his stiff wings will get in the way again... Then Scot'll moan and tut, Rodi and Boris will make out, Amanda'll make out that she's so far above them all that they can't even jump for her... Then there'll be a song about it. Can't wait!
I'm pretty sure this is where I stopped watching this show. The bleak and disturbing credits sequence was the last straw. I feigned sickness the following week, although no-one fell for it, but they got the message and excused me from it. I could already read really well, so I just sat on a beanbag for twenty minutes with the book box.
I remembered them on a mountain. Then I changed schools, I was devastated! Now, after 25 years I'm gonna finish this series today!!
NO MATTER how old, this is still a very good CBBC series
I think Boris is a lot brighter than you think- he certainly comes across as that in episode 4. And he found TWO veetons!
such a good show. when we watched it at school i dont remember any hints of spelling, pretty damn clever.

'Road Unsafe'
I always remembered that scene as a kid!
'Help Charn.'
Does this mean she wants them to help him take over Pelmar. A comma would be useful here... ;)
12 year old Jenny knows that it changes when there's an exclamation mark inbetween the words.
Now you mention it, it does seem strange that he didn't. Perhaps he just couldn't be bothered.
Loved this show!

I KNEW IT! Charn can read! You can tell by his reaction to the scarf. I wonder how he learned to read when none of the other Pelamots can.
"Race you to that notice board" - lol, great 2 yard race
6:11 one of the scariest kids characters from a cheapo program sticks 2 fingers up! scary
So Amanda has to be restrained (albiet weakly), trying to get Gorwen not to go into deadly battle, and Scott... waves goodbye. What a tosser.

The good guys: exist
Widgets: hoooooold ooouuuur veeeeeetoooonsss!
Clever Jenny!
What's so strange about that? Surely everyone takes a bag of spare shoes with them on a quest. I know I do.
whoooooooooooooaaaaaaaa nelly!
They brained Boris! Luckily there's not much of a brain to damage.
i always though boris was dead in this video , my little 8 year old heart bled for him
Exactly where was that widgit hiding to remove the leaf from the sign and how did Scott and boris not notice it, there aren't that many places to hide on a mountain
Wow, Boris got a bad concussion. Surprisingly violent, this programme.
Can't say the songs are up to much. Sounds a bit like they're making it up as they go along
So Charn can Melt skin, teeth, bones - but not plastic glasses!

is that a Vitarod in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me 8==D

What do you think Scott would have done in Jenny's predicament?
Maybe he can only read a little bit- like recognise his own name. Maybe he can't read big complicated things like the book for mending the veetacore, so he couldn't melt Jenny, because he needed her to read the book.
So...why did Boris have a whole sack full of shoes? Because he could.
@dannyjax lol, u legend 4 spotting that!
1, 2, 3, 4... BOTTOM!
Shoes?
Gorwin looks a bit dazed 7:14-18
one two three four bottom???? ahahahahahaha!
why does Boris have a sack of shoes?
it's one-two-three-front-bottom
