Policing One of the Most Popular Tourist Corridors in America

We ride along with two of our Deputy City Marshal police officers to patrol the Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. These officers are a part of the city's new P.O.P. or Problem Oriented Policing team. The team's objective? To make Fremont Street the safest tourist corridor in America. To do so, they patrol the area on foot handing out citations for things like open container and smoking marijuana in public. Before issuing citations to the homeless population though, they will first offer them resources, building relationships with them in hopes to get them the help they need. Another priority for the officers is to make relationships with the businesses on Fremont Street.
