If we really want to increase the representation of women, then we will have to improve and change the education system and should implement properly Right to Education. Just reserving seats for them will not make it easy for them to reach there. First we have to start from ground level.

The 554 seats were for the population of 80crore and now India's population has increased and MLA:constituency ratio is disturbed. So i am saying if it will be based only on Population than Northern States will gain huge amount of seats leading to insignificance of southern seats and therefore if we include both population and economy as a criteria for delimitation it will be good as it won't create disadvantage for southern states.

If they are not ready to help then, it's better to give 100% reservation for atleast 1000 years to SC, ST, OBC and Adivasis. Hi Akash! The need for women's reservation is an affirmative action needed for progression of democratic rights of women, is a welcoming step. Though on the dark side of it, the reservation of women in Govt. Nursing seats are whooping 80%, Leaving Lacks male nurses Jobless for the past 5 years. They are forced to work in underpaid jobs of 8k-10k a month, without even having a fair opportunity of earning equal n respectable livelihoods. This issue needs to be addressed and I think it's a story worth covering for gaining some support for "male nurses rights" while the matter is pending in the Supreme Court for the last 2-3 years.
The reservation system was intended to empower the backward classes, but unfortunately, it has become a political tool. Instead of striving to compete on an equal footing, more and more communities are demanding reservation quotas. This trend indicates that we may be regressing rather than progressing since independence. Lowering the standards to accommodate a few individuals ultimately harms the country and the institutions they join. It denies opportunities to deserving and qualified candidates. My belief is that we should focus on making individuals capable and providing them with opportunities to uplift themselves. Merit, rather than caste or community affiliation, should be the basis for earning a place in society.
A better idea to do this is how Singapore does. Reservation should be for everyone ! The % of reservation will be based on how to population is on the previous census. So everyone is correctly represented everywhere. 80% Hindus 15% Muslims 5% Other minorities etc. Among the 80% Hindus again %OBC of ST and General etc.

Though Reservation for women in PRI elections has given voice and way to women centric development , but still instances of Pati Sarpanch are quite vivid even now. Even in parliament we see some female MPs just sitting as mute spectators instead of raising issues and having an independent mind. Only time will shed light whether this reservation bill will be a step towards women empowerment or will merely act as a front for chauvinist minded individuals and parties to use women as puppet and control the entire show.

I think they are better placed despite this kind of bill ever being passed in their parliament. The reason is that they believe in equality and merit.

It is a master stroke or rather multiple. First of all Modi put 2 conditions ie Census and Delimitation , which floored opposition. Because otherwise whole opp would have harped on these in whole session. Second, by passing this bill unanimously he will win 2024 majority as well as will be able to smoothly get delimitation done easily . 2029 elections may be for about 800 LS seats in which about 250 will be for women of all castes. That will make a big impact in LS to establish one party regime for future.

Reservation word should be banned 😤 from our constitution. Any kind of Reservation is discrimination. All exams jobs should be fair and equal to everyone.

Akash currently south part of india contribute 24.12% in loksabha seats and after delimitation the number falls to 21.62% which is approx 2.5 % decrease in number not a big deal. Big populous state need more govt. In participation. Currently Rajasthan has 25 MP whereas Tamilnadu has 39 MP but, both state has equal number of population🤐. Merely 2.5% decrease im seats doesn't make any difference 💁♂️. Hope U replied to my comments.

It's easy to give privileges to any particular sections in form of reservations but when time comes to revoke those privileges its not gonna happen...... we as a nation have witnessed such reservations in the past itself.

Based on past experiences, I don't think if the participation of women in Loksabha increases women centric issues like that in Manipur or the wrestlers issue would be addressed any better because it was a woman who was the first to raise questions on why Nirbhaya was outside at that time with so and so people? And even in future I have a strong feeling that until our country's politicians can have broad enough minds to overlook the appeasement of their votebank and act with no hidden agendas, even women's reservation in the sabhas would prove to be toothless.
Thats not possible. You have to be strategic in politics as long as manifestos are delivered i guess we should be ok with it coz everyone will look for benefit to stay in power. Difference is some are bold enough to deliver even though there are internal issues among them and some are not bold and easily crumble to outside pressure.

At least political employement is secure, with or without reservation; but a fine step for a fair representation. Whereas, 42.5% of graduates under the age of 25 are unemployed. Almost half of educated youth are unemployed but bhakchodi is important for our govt. We're not moving but sprinting towards being a Population liability.

The 554 seats were for the population of 80crore and now India's population has increased and MLA:constituency ratio is disturbed.
So i am saying if it will be based only on Population than Northern States will gain huge amount of seats leading to insignificance of southern seats and therefore if we include both population and economy as a criteria for delimitation it will be good as it won't create disadvantage for southern states.

The need for women's reservation is an affirmative action needed for progression of democratic rights of women, is a welcoming step.
Though on the dark side of it, the reservation of women in Govt. Nursing seats are whooping 80%, Leaving Lacks male nurses Jobless for the past 5 years. They are forced to work in underpaid jobs of 8k-10k a month, without even having a fair opportunity of earning equal n respectable livelihoods.
This issue needs to be addressed and I think it's a story worth covering for gaining some support for "male nurses rights" while the matter is pending in the Supreme Court for the last 2-3 years.

The reservation system was intended to empower the backward classes, but unfortunately, it has become a political tool. Instead of striving to compete on an equal footing, more and more communities are demanding reservation quotas. This trend indicates that we may be regressing rather than progressing since independence.
Lowering the standards to accommodate a few individuals ultimately harms the country and the institutions they join. It denies opportunities to deserving and qualified candidates. My belief is that we should focus on making individuals capable and providing them with opportunities to uplift themselves. Merit, rather than caste or community affiliation, should be the basis for earning a place in society.
A better idea to do this is how Singapore does. Reservation should be for everyone ! The % of reservation will be based on how to population is on the previous census. So everyone is correctly represented everywhere. 80% Hindus 15% Muslims 5% Other minorities etc. Among the 80% Hindus again %OBC of ST and General etc.

Though Reservation for women in PRI elections has given voice and way to women centric development , but still instances of Pati Sarpanch are quite vivid even now. Even in parliament we see some female MPs just sitting as mute spectators instead of raising issues and having an independent mind. Only time will shed light whether this reservation bill will be a step towards women empowerment or will merely act as a front for chauvinist minded individuals and parties to use women as puppet and control the entire show.

It's easy to give privileges to any particular sections in form of reservations but when time comes to revoke those privileges its not gonna happen...... we as a nation have witnessed such reservations in the past itself.

Based on past experiences, I don't think if the participation of women in Loksabha increases women centric issues like that in Manipur or the wrestlers issue would be addressed any better because it was a woman who was the first to raise questions on why Nirbhaya was outside at that time with so and so people? And even in future I have a strong feeling that until our country's politicians can have broad enough minds to overlook the appeasement of their votebank and act with no hidden agendas, even women's reservation in the sabhas would prove to be toothless.

Thats not possible. You have to be strategic in politics as long as manifestos are delivered i guess we should be ok with it coz everyone will look for benefit to stay in power. Difference is some are bold enough to deliver even though there are internal issues among them and some are not bold and easily crumble to outside pressure.

My mami is sarpanch and you won't believe she passed MA and she is well educated but still the real ruler of village is my mama , they don't even care about her views she is just a stamp for them, i even went into argument with her because she is not using her power, i don't know what to say anymore about this reservation bill.
