There was always this Bruce lee Vibe with Chris. The way he stripped down his grooves, kept the essentials of the musical motiff happening and discarded the fancy embelishments. You often see him doing an 8th note feel on the hats . Simple but driving. I mean that's why his music is always catchy. The greatest songs often have simple melodies. But when he gets to his solos he just unleashes his chops and whacks em drums and cymbals like he was fighting with an army of invisible attackers. Every strike becomes an expression of emotion. There is a musical violence to his playing. Grace with Power. Brute elegance. He doesn't think ...he feels. His hands and feet just hit by themselves. Without warning. And suddenly you find yourself in awe. Lost in all that heavenly glory.
I swear he gets better every time he makes something new. This one was particularly tasty as Chris was showing off his brilliant arrangement, excellence in metric modulation as well as ostinato technique, and of course trademark lightning-fast single strokes in wide, sweeping fills. Stunning.
This is getting as latin as a non-latin can get. This guy makes me move, dance, laugh and cry of emotion all at the same time. His performance in July 2017, shows how great this man is. The way he ended the show is so inspiring he should be thanked every time we watch it! Thanks for your art and essence!
I know this is meinl’s channel, but is nobody else gonna comment on how sick those drums sounded as well!? I LOVED the sound of those toms! The floor toms especially!
Once again a masterful display of absolutely dazzling percussive brilliance. Coleman’s chops, compositional creativity, fluidity, musicality, power, technique and timing are of the very highest order. Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
So very sorry Simon. We had a good run. You're still great, but, listen to this guy. Easily, my favorite drummer. Coleman is beyond everyone I have ever listened to. His playing is perfection as I see it.
Truly gifted as the way he plays the drum-set it still comes as very musical! The other cats such as Eric Moore and Tony Royster are good but Mr. Coleman takes it to another level of complex mixed tones while the other players come off as just fast and noisy if I make any sense at all. God bless him!
Ok...at 1:21 Chris starts doing that left foot hi-hat splashing that I LOVE and so desperately want to learn how to do!! Argh! This guys kills me with every solo!!
@@kevinbrinkley374 it's heal toe. Just picture yourself rocking back and forth in a rocking chair. Now apply that heal toe rocking motion with your foot on the high hat. It's not as hard to learn as you think, just a little practice directed towards it. One of my favorite moves to add on the kit for some flavor. I play double bass but when I'm not using the left bass pedal I always try to focus on incorporating using my left foot to hold timing with the high hate. Plus if you can do that it just adds that extra flavor everyone will notice in your playing, good luck with it✌
Chris is the only drummer I know, who is not repetitive, I mean, look at all his solos it doesn't sound the same, every solo is different, unlike every drummer who uses the same pattern over and over. This man is a beast!
I'm guessing Chris got a new drum kit. I dont know if it's just me, but he always plays craziest solos when gets a new kit/cymbals. .. lol. Keep up the good work Chris.
Yes yes yes Some one Should do a compilation because he does a lot of great stuff starting seminars just here and there although I guess I’d have to do my own compilation seeing that it’s based on opinion
What a Show of Originality.......I can hear his personality.....A lot of guys have great chops and speed but you don't always get raw personality.......
This man just paradiddly daddled his way into my heart
"paradiddly daddled" nice xD
Stupid Flanders
He also flimmitty flammed his way there too
Check out Buddy Rich ‘
This has to be one of the most musical solo's ive ever heard, Chris is a madman!
I was thinking the same thing. It’s a song unto itself. “Hey Chris, can we hear that again in a D minor?”
Best musical solo for me is Todd Sucherman
Nah. Larnell Lewis City Lights
The sound of the cymbals shines as much as his head
😅
🤣
Pls don't disrespect Chris Coleman, that's where he gets his magic powers from!
I have yet to see a Meinl sponsored player that doesn’t put out tasty playing.
Looks like that's a challenge specifically for me.
@@sauzeeee lol. I am sure your not that bad.
Im halfway there. Meinl, can we work something out?
Chris' playing always puts a smile on my face. So much energy and passion when he plays. One of my favourite drummers.
He’s quickly become my favorite drummer. Its always a joy watching and hearing him play. Mr. Coleman if you see this, I love you!

Wow! Chris and I both use the same drum heads and we both play Meinl Byzance cymbals! All similarities end abruptly there.
Lol 🤣🤣🤣 Fer enough bro !
@3:21 - Someone offscreen signaled "Keep going Chris, you haven't showed of that new signature series ride enough yet!"
Chris Coleman is an insane drummer, snare sounds tight and the cymbals are sweet, love it
Chris has the most infectious positive energy, what a drummer.
Absolute monster but keeps it engaging and humorous - gotta love it

Chris Coleman is the Alan Holdsworth of drums! Thank you for the musical vaccination! Peace from Detroit MI.
Alan Holdsworth is the Chris Coleman of guitar.
Vinnie Colaiuta.

Incredibile......potenza calibrata,velocita? MACHT e precisione,fantasia... un altro pianeta !!!! WOOOOW
Dude has an absolute blast when he plays and it shows! Unreal
Chris Coleman has transformed himself into an instrument.....the drums are just there for show.
“Remember children, speed kills. But not if you’re Chris Coleman.”

Speed pulls over to let Chris Coleman go by

Amazing Meinl
He never plays an accidental note!! Amazing!!!
Chris Coleman exudes nothing but pure joy when he plays the drums!
My favorite thing about Chris Coleman's playing is how melodic he makes his solos sound
First of all, Chris is a monster.
Secondly, that ride cymbal sounds amazing!
Absolutely killer!!! Can't help but see Dennis Chambers in Chris' playing, soooo much groove!!! 🤗
Chris is the MAN. Killer solo
Unreal. What an absolute monster.
Man those drums sound incredible!! I had the privilege of seeing Chris at the last Beck tour :D AMAZING

Nothing like starting off the week like a solo from one of the best drummers on the planet. Meinl has by far the best roster of drummers hands down.
love the high hihat and drums that are tuned higher than normal. great solo!
Always love how stoked/excited he seems to carry himself and play.
Loved it! Drums were tuned perfectly.
Ok...at 1:21 Chris starts doing that left foot hi-hat splashing that I LOVE and so desperately want to learn how to do!! Argh! This guys kills me with every solo!!
It's a heel-toe technique that takes a lot of practice. Rocking your foot from heel to toe can get you started!

Your sick fast man. And love your musicality.
This guy is for sure the next Chris Coleman. It reminds me of Chris Coleman. Even Chris Coleman would agree.

That snare sound!
This is just simply amazing as always!
Beast mode is never deactivated
I was about to pinpoint a specific fill to say how it was perfect. And then I realized everything is perfect with Chris Coleman.
phenomenal
Chris Coleman for "DRUMMING DIVINITY," is hereby nominated.
That ride may be the single driest ride I've ever heard. I love the K custom dry ride, but this is all ping and no wash. Love it!
snare wires are sooooooo tight
what a gamer ♥
That snare has the best sound I’ve ever heard. And trust me, I’ve heard ALOT of different snares.
