Back in '92, I'd just been saved. I started going to the youth group at a church in LA. Jimmy's brother happened to be the youth pastor (I had no idea, I just liked Deliverance). Wasn't I star struck when Jimmy showed up at a church retreat and hung out with us all weekend! He was kind and fun. Dude even rebuked me (mildly) about something. What he said sticks with me to this day. Grace and peace!
That's what I did 20 years ago when I heard Deliverance and other Christian rock bands. I'm glad someone understands. Besides, Jesus is the one that draws them, we just relay the message, so no matter what "method" is used to spread the gospel, such as drama, music, what have you, the Holy Spirit is the one that draws them in.

Man, where is the metal and hard rock that is so explicit with its lyrics like these guys? One thing more powerful than metal is the Word of God and these guys just lay it out. I wish I knew of bands that do that now!
Spiritual warfare is an image that many of us would rather reject. However, since the Bible uses terms of warfare, it's best that we accept God's imagery, so that we're properly prepared for real battle. As Christians, we're going through more than a mere "struggle" on earth--& it seems that war imagery captures this reality better than anything else. Since it's warfare, God instructs Christians to use a very specific set of armor and weapons in Ephesians 6:14-18

A true Metal fan would love the music regardless of particular themes or lyrics. Whether its music from Slayer or Believer. Besides, metal is only a medium. That's pure metal.
There are a lot of "strict" churches out there. The one I went to didn't have the ruler, but I joked one time by looking for it. HAHA! A lot of the black gospel churches, believe it or not, up here in Chicagoland are very strict!! I had a friend who looked at me funny cuz I wore jeans to church & she said that was a big no-no at her church.WOW!
If you like some of the heavier "black metal" sound with uplifting lyrics, Extol is the band to check out. They flat out rock. Actually, after a few years of recording more mid paced alterna-metal, Deliverance did go back to their thrash roots on their latest release "As Above, So Below". If you have iTunes, you can get it from their store. Tourniquet is another great Christian band to check out as well.
2:28 you have to admit seeing the Bass Player and him headbang like that in unison is frickin' cool. Anyone know the history behind the band's symbol? It's all over their myspace page.

AWESOME! :-D I always loved Iron Maiden, but because of the lyrics in a bunch of their songs I just can't enjoy them anymore, wanting to be pleasing and holy before Christ like He tells us to be. But this, this is awesome! :-D It's a great replacement!
In response to kilgoretrout1 (CAPS DUDE) I study in australia, environmental science at university and i love hearing lectures/professors trying to disprove christianity because of the complexity and intricacy of the world around us...when eventually they start proving that God does exist! When you study Science, biology etc, you will realise how little you do know, and for every question you solve...about 50 others arise!

Cool. It just dawned on me that this video is about 15 years? Since then the band members are doing other things. As a matter of fact LOL most of the old Christian metal dudes have gotten their haircuts. The bald head is now "in". LOL!! (Lary Dean, my Pastor has that "bald" look now-because he is now also a Motorcross racer..As matter of fact, he's at the (?)X-Games(?) now in Cali.
Another underrated Metal band. These guys were an all out talented band from the vocals to the jams. Waaaay better than Strypers hipitty hop metal. They sounded nothing like Metalica. Go figure. In my book, you guys were original. Still jam you to this day. Peace.
