I have never seen anyone actually MAKE a Cuban yoyo. That was beautiful to watch, thank you! I too use a Cuban yoyo (stopped using rod and reel 7-8 years ago) to catch Northern Pike (Esox lucius) here in Minnesota, USA, and I use only homemade fishing lures. People look at me with curiosity, and some think I am crazy, but I don't care. Thank you for such a nice, inspirational video.
Here in Peru, artisanal fishermen use hand reels, they call it tablita, the famous little board and they are very good with that and some use pvc tube reels, only recently has angling been in fashion.
