We can't always be turning every celebration into a cry for the ones that didn't make it. Sometimes we must just celebrate, clean with no extras things - no guilt or feeling sorry somehow.

It's rare that public schools excel, as their success often depends on the support and resources available. For instance, the top student in South Africa hails from a Western Cape public school. However, during her interview, she emphasized receiving a significant amount of support.

The argument that there are other black kids also getting A's is part of Sols argument, for those kids to get the same mark, they have more to deal with, and that shouldn't be the case, not every kid will be as resilient, so many more fall by the wayside. My niece goes to the same exact "privileged" school that I went to, But I had to travel from extremely far via taxi's just to attend there, I woke up at 5AM and got home at 7PM after taking part in the compulsory 2 extra mural activities that the school makes you do, then have to do the same amount of homework as everyone else, no exceptions, that is extremely difficult when you don't have both parents and Gogo cant even understand what's on the school circular, let alone check your homework. My niece on the other hand lives 5 minutes away from that school since my sister moved up, Both parents work, mom comes home early and always sits with them during homework time. What were saying is that that the girl who got 8 A's is a model black student, who grew up in an Ideal situation, that was conducive for her success, and as an idea, it would nice for more black kids to came from the same situation. That's' not to take away from her hard work.

😢Sol. Someone has to be really difficult in their thinking not to understand what you're saying. The problem is us black middle class think we are exceptional when we should be highlighting exactly what you are pointing out. I don't know about timing because they must just tell you when you should and could have said it. Congrats must be sent to the governor's child. We reiterate that as a society we should strive to ensure that more black kids are afforded access and a conducive environment in order to excel. Thank you for not postponing that input, the fact that we are engaging now means an elevated sense of consciousness to both our struggles and our achievements. Black people always want to see the Siya Kolisi type story when it comes to us black people where we have to suffer almost to the point of death and then make it out of that mess forgetting that with White people, the environment and access to resources is what makes 60% of them successful.

Essentially what I think he is getting at is the government improving the life of the average south african's basic living conditions and providing resources to have an environment where the average student has an environment to thrive in academically eg No loadshedding during exams, learning data, there's access to food and water and etc) Those are some examples. Because think of how tough it must be to study with a candle, or an empty stomach or shortage of a resource @@maneli3769 And yes there are students naturally gifted to thrive in those conditions but some students get hindered by those conditions

It's interesting to consider Anele's experience in relation to Sol's point. While she didn't achieve distinctions, she has built a successful career, suggesting that academic achievement alone may not be the sole indicator of future success. This raises the question of why some individuals with diverse educational backgrounds, including public school teachers, might choose private schooling for their children. Exploring these motivations helps us understand the complexities of educational choices and their long-term impact.

Completely agree with Sol here, one should never leave what must be done today for tomorrow.

They are wrong for telling him "the timing was wrong." He sparked a great and interesting valid debate.

Money, and access to resources improve your chances of academic success. Look at every cohesive examination run by any country. It’s always the private schools with more money n resources that achieve better results. Its everywhere. This is the right time because no one cares about exams outside of this time.

Opinions don't have time. That's why we have all these social media platforms to express how we feel. Sol is right and I back home on this. The government has screwed us a million times over and more stories this those are supposed to be told. Not just one...

His timing was perfect. Had he spoken about it later on it wouldn't have carried so much weight.. Why are others pressed

I've been preaching Sol's sentiment. If government school has the same resources IEB such results would be a norm. We have kids achieve such results from the lowest quantile schools, now imagine if more average communities will be singing the same tune

I'm with Sol on this one. Something must spark a conversation, and it was this particular incident. If he had mentioned this issue another time, it wouldn't have been relevant. He also makes a valid point. If more Black kids got the same kind of support and access to resources, we'd have EVEN MORE stories of this nature, not that there aren't already stories of Black kids doing well in Matric.

Nah, MacG and Ghost 👻 are mistaken, this is a perfect time to discuss this.
The government is creating a state where it is difficult for poor people to make it.

Am with Sol here, he is right... The idea of saying timing is was not good, does this mean when someone post something we just need to say congrats qhaaa even though it trigger some notion to raise? Nhaaa... Danko Sol

If every kid went to a well-resourced school and had a private tutor for every subject they'd score higher than coming from a poor background, regardless of the IQ level
