LOve each and every episode. I have collected a DVD of every season and episode. I watch a disk nearly every evening. Such exceptional acting and screenplay. My "Summer Wine" collection is my most valued material possession. Yes, I'm a litlte obsessed, but I could have much less healthy obsessions.
I bought mine a year ago. So glad I did. Also bought "Are You Being Served? And, "Are you Being Served Again" "As Time Goes By", and "Open All Hours". I enjoy all of them.
I am in my 20's and I love this. Wonderful times and atmosphere. Nowadays everything in our societies seem like a sea of misery, loss and alienation. It's comforting that my parents, grandparents grew up and lived in those more sensible, more rooted, kinder times.
These days actually existed, neighbors would come over sit on the porch and conversate. people cared more for each other, more kind while driving. we had huge Sears dept. store catalogs with thousands of toys, we would go through picking out what we wanted for Christmas.
Gosh I am glad to see that you like this! I have been watching this for so long--so glad I can see it on RUclips! I wish I could find recordings to keep. I love it for the same reasons--it is sweet, dear, tender, kind and just sweet stories that nothing bad happens! Oh thank goodness! It's about all I can tolerate these days! What a blessing!
All of them, indeed, were "the last of the summer wine!" Phenomenal writers, great scenery, awesome actors...that kind of "mellow wine" you don't find today!
@@ginnylorenz5265 whatever, nitpicker! Geeze, you can't even write an innocent comment without some thinking it is their appointed duty to make corrections!
I love this series. It's hard to see the disappearance of favorite old ones, and to see dear old Cleggie aging so. . . but the newer actors are a treat and keep the series lively.
I loved this show. It's so sad that they are all gone now. Compo and his holey pants, Clegg and his shyness, Nora and her hats, Howard always trying to get away with Marina, Pearl always trying to keep track of Howard, Truly of the yard, Auntie Wainwright looking to make a dollar, Marina, oh Howard, Wesley and his inventions. They don't make them like this anymore.
You know your addicted to these lot when you know the next line before they are said by the characters. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx LOL 🤣
@Thomas Singletary These series are so phenomenal. Amusing, calming and the characters are just adorable. I`ve watched them several times and I never get sick of them. Thank you very much for providing us with all this pleasure and joy :)))
I always loved this period as there was such a varied and superb cast of actors like Frank Thornton, Stephen Lewis and Bert Kwok appearing regularly plus the script writing was as good as it gets.
Thanks for putting these episodes out. Haven't found them anywhere, except here. On my next visit to ENGLAND/Great Britain I hope to visit Holmfirth/West Yorkshire. Beautiful area!
Great cast, Billy, the police man, Barry and Glenda are still alive. Howard lived longer than all of them accept for Truelove who died at 93. Howard died at age 90, he outlived his wife and Mariana. Ms. B. Churchill
I was surprised to see "Elizabeth" from KUA. Not that surprised cuz of the producer, a nice surprise. Now I see her as a well rounded actor more than nervous Elizabeth.
Have watched every episode many times over and come to the conclusion that there is one central theme running through the entire length of the show! Basically, if you live in Yorkshire and are unfortunate enough to be married you life was a miserable existence!! Howard, Billy, Wally, Wesley and Sid where all downtrodden and happier outside the family home!! Even Cleggy and Truelove and Smiler had had horrid experiences on the marriage front. Those who had escaped the confines of matrimony were undoubtedly the happiest!!
Must admit when Brian Wilde left the show in 1997 and they replaced him with Frank Thornton! It was definitely the best decision they made! He was very funny and made the character Truly of the yard his own. Not forgetting his famous catchphrase! Of course he could be lying. The character Billy Hardcastle was also a Very funny character. Ah I laugh at danger.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view!" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

The best scenes were Brian Murphy sitting on his doorstep , with a selection on
chairs and Breakfast table .

BRILLIANT
Mike Grady good actor
i wish they had given burt kwouk better lines than that washing machine stuff.
The two policemen were so funny, what a big miss by the BBC. They should have had their own spin-off series.
If you haven't seen it before, you may enjoy watching the BBC comedy series 'The Detectives', with Jasper Carrott and Robert Powell.
According to Wikipedia, they DID get their own spin-off, or at least a pilot for it, but it didn't particularly take off or something?
Ken Kitson & Louis Emerick ❤

Cleggy usually avoids danger and anything strenuous, what in the world possessed him to climb a tree?
there are wonderful episodes where nothing happens ... naught wrong with that ...

11:20 that was shown on news when Peter Sallis died RIP
I felt sad when I found out Peter Sallis had passed away. I wouldn’t mind getting old if I had such a good friend as Cleggy and Compo.
I feel the same way, up to mischief with good mates, more the best of the summer wine rather than the last.

There is no way Clegg and Howard can outweigh Truly, Alvin and Billy.
