When you set the center for the base I thought you were way off. But the piece didn’t spin too violently, and what a spectacular grain pattern came through! Beautiful!

Until today I was sure it was, let's say, impossible to make a vase in pine wood with such a thin wall. I would say it would break before completed. Great work!! Thank you for sharing

I dream of someday having that much tool control and ability to turn pieces so beautiful, for now my goal for wall thickness is less than 1/2 inch, haha!

Beautiful. I watch mostly American woodturners, and they all seem to be afraid of making the wood so thin. They also don't make many hollow-form pieces. This was refreshing. I saw the blue insulation of the electrical cable at the beginning, was surprised you didn't investigate. I'm glad you were able to continue despite it. Well done.

I use trees that have been destroyed by a disaster and focus on thinness rather than practicality to leave them as art. However, it was a failure to cut the electric cable. It took about five times to re-sharpen the tool.

This tree was in the house where the old man lived and was destroyed by a storm. It seems to have been misplaced decades ago, as others commented.

Perhaps decades ago someone had forgotten it wrapped around. It had a unique shape because the tree grew to capture it.

Wouldn't it be a hit if you searched for Belt Sander Cleaner and Amazon? Uses an ocher rubber type cleaner.
to each his own .. just curious why the sanding and coating wasn't done before sawing off the bottom .... more even, quicker and efficient - beautiful piece of work (Y) (Y) (Y)
