Whats really interesting is if you look at it like this: Sakura represents a "Happy" or Good future for Sasuke, while Orochimaru represents the "Bad" or "Evil" future. The Same can be said for Naruto who represents a "Happy" Past for Sasuke while Itachi represents all the loneliness and hatred from Sasukes past.

A lot of shonen have sad moments in every arc, but there’s usually one specific arc that’s just has a sadder/more emotional all around. And when the opening matches that feeling, it REALLY hits. The sasuke retrieval arc is that arc for OG Naruto, and this opening REALLY REALLY hits. It really gives off the vibe that things aren’t the same and might never be the same again.

yeah this is still the most nostalgic opening in any anime I've ever watched, I love it, watching all 720 episodes of this thing wasn't worth it for the story or animation of it itself, but rather for the memories and connections I have with these characters, and nothing brings me back like the openings.
Honestly couldnt have put it better. Original Naruto is a staple and a complete mammoth in the anime community. Shippuden had all the potential but literally ruined everything during the war. That war was trash and rushed. Still when ever anyone asks my favourite anime I’ll always bring up the kid that made us believe in his dream, Naruto!

What made it shine was how extremely outclassed everyone was against their enemies, the only difference being their way thinking through the battles
