    Junior gearing is 52-14 as the biggest gear for u19. I am going for a 40t 1x chainring with an 11-30 1190 cassete. I don't need 2x when I can't use anything over 100 gear inches.

    Hey Ronald, it was interesting to see how compatible is SRAM with Shimano in this case, also clever comment on the Ultegra brakes that they are actully a lot cheaper and they work well too with SRAM levers. That actually got me thinking, and I would like to ask your opinion or view on it. What would be the most cost effective- or budget- if you like setup for a SRAM Force AXS? So lets say not buying the whole set, but the parts, combined from different manufac. So obviously the levers the front and rear derailleur would be the SRAM Force, and for the sake of cost saving it would be a rim break setup. Is it even possible to run 2x11 on the Force AXS or only 2x12?

    • @ronykuba

      @@zaheerkader7426 probably because of Shimano wheels. Disc brakes are better at being brakes, that's a fact. It doesn't mean that a disc bike will be better than a rim brake version. Particularly if it's a hotch-potch form over function Pinarello that's designed to be both.

    • @derekleroylarson
      @derekleroylarson 5 лет назад +2

      @@ronykuba Team Ineos could have their exact c60 tubular shimano wheels in a disc version if they wanted. That model is available in disc. I agree disc brakes are better at being brakes, but there's more to take into consideration when part of a system. For example, we know that there are lower rolling resistance TL tires on the market than the tubulars that pros use, so why don't pros use them? TL tires are better at being tires (in terms of RR and aerodynamics) right? Rhetorical question, as I know the answer to my own question. Point being, the overwhelming majority of pros that have been polled prefer rim brakes, but since most teams these days are providing disc only options they are as someone else has mentioned, forced to ride what they are given. Every single world tour team that's running rim brakes has a disc version of the same exact model available. You don't have to look very hard on Eurosport to see that when riders are given a choice, their choice is rim.

    • @derekleroylarson
      @derekleroylarson 5 лет назад

      What the pros ride is not the end all be all endorsement however. I have disc brake bikes as well as rim and I appreciate them both for what their intended uses are. It's a lack of brake rub, lower system weight and superior aerodynamics that are the reasons most pros choose rim over disc if given the choice on their team/from their teams bike sponsor. Pros road riders don't typically make excellent braking their number 1 priority. That doesn't mean a hobby or amatuer shouldn't either. If we all copied what pros ran on race day we'd all still be on tubular tires and every rider would have a 130mm+ stem slammed on the headtube.
