I would just like to add that the main reason for all this unhappiness, and abundance of millionaire/billionaires in Hong Kong compared with Singapore is because the HKD is pegged 1 : 1 to the USD, US prints a shit load of money with plenty of demand overseas as it is the world reserve currency, while in HK, all that excess cash goes to bid up housing prices, stock markets, and high inflation which makes people super unhappy.
Hence, HK is full of the super rich because of the 5 times market cap it has compared with SG stock markets, and also it has BVI, a tax heaven for the rich from China to park their tax free cash

@H L The Singapore port is the world’s busiest container transhipment facility, offering maritime trade connectivity with 600 seaports in over 100 countries. Also, Singapore port is one of the largest bunkering facilities in the world.
It comprises 84 berths spread across 6 major port terminals. Presently, the port receives 130,000 vessel calls annually.
A fully mechanised terminal is also being constructed at Tuas, expected to be completed by 2040, with a handling capacity of 65 million TEUs.Upon completion, it would be the largest fully-mechanised terminal facility in the world.
The port’s terminals are equipped to handle diverse bulk, breakbulk, liquid and containerised cargo. They efficiently handle oil, petroleum products, natural gas, cement, automobiles, machinery etc. An important terminal is located at Jurong which mainly deals with steel, cement, and copper slag. The Pasir Panjang Terminal can handle the biggest container ships with more than 12,000 TEUs.
The port offers an array of services to its national and international customers, including ship repairs and maintenance, cold storage facilities, container washing, and container tracking.

One is a city well-protected while one is a country who has always been on it's own, from protecting it's home to striving hard to becoming a strong country. Even though I’m from Hong Kong, I had to give it to Singapore, I appreciate that place a lot. This video was posted 1 year ago, Hong Kong would’ve won if we didn’t have political issues with China. For example, Hong Kong’s happiness massively decreased because of China’s takeover, our gdp also massively decreased because of many citizens immigrated into other countries because of political issues. Same with pollution and quality of life.

Singapore is better than HK. Clean, anti-corruption government which sincerely cares for the people. LKY brought Singapore from 3rd world to 1st world in one generation, building affordable housing for the people and educating the workforce. You may say our streets are clean because of littering fine but cleanliness has already been ingrained in us from young. It is not our habit to litter even when we are in foreign countries without littering fines. We also do well without chewing gum sticking on lift buttons or train seats. Singapore is the clear winner.

Without the British and Americans, Hongkong is nothing. The Yanks in cahoots with the Brits gave HK special consideration in trade, sports and other aspects as most of their riches were parked in laundromat accounts and shares in HK companies. Most of CCP dirty money goes thru HK too. In most cases in every survey by western nations HK (as the illegitimate offspring) gets fave reviews every time without fail. Shanghai who performs better almost always do not get star billing. The HKD is even weaker than the RMB. My opinion only.

When Hong Kong prosper, the wealth goes to the British. That is how the British benefits. That is also how Singapore was thriving until, when the British dump Singapore, we have to start from scratch. The People of Hong Kong is still clinging to the fact that they did well on their own.

That is not true! I lived and worked in HK for 15 years. I paid far more taxes in HK than in Singapore. Singapore income taxes are prorated with a wider income range compared to HK. In Singapore, if your annual income is equivalent to HKD200, 000 ( approximately S$35,000), you pay only 2% of your first taxable income of S$20,000 and 3.5% of your next taxable income of S$30, 000. Compared to 17% in HK. If your annual income is S$120,000 (HKD700,000), you pay only 15% prorated in total compared to HK, which is 17% of 720,000 less the allowed individual deductions. Only recently, Singapore income tax has gone up to the highest 22% for indovidual from 17%, which only affects the high income group (annual income of S$160,000 and above). So, in this example, your take-home pay is higher in Singapore. There's another difference working in Singapore compared to HK. In Singapore, there is AWS, meaning a 13 month annual wage supplement, which is absent in HK. This is different from annual bonuses, which is a practice in Singapore and HK.

Singapore is in Southeast Asia, it is nowhere near China, has never been subject to a claim of sovereignty by China and is more aligned with the US than with China. The National Langauge of Singapore is Malay, while the working language is English (note that none of the above is Mandarin), the head of State is a Malay, the first President is a Malay and the US has had a naval presence at its port for over 4 decades due to a logistics contract.
