The only other item in my enclosure is a 2009 dell laptop that i am playing UKN on (trackpad only). Im playing windowed 240x160 and averaging 11 fps. Life is good.
There are 3 things Rust players are attracted to, Booms, Gunshots and Easy Loot like open doors or sight of boxes. You should never rely on players to notice something that isn't sound based or visually appealing (like fake decayed base), those players are few & far between
That's what I was thinking. A twig frame isn't remotely close to obvious unless you really examine the base. If spoonkid acted like he was going deep with the pump shotgun and an open sheet metal double door, he might've gotten a lot more people to investigate.

At that stage in wipe that design is fine. Also be aware that a lot of players are well aware of how these trap bases work. So the trick is high traffic area. But not make it too sus. When you make it obvious that its a trap you will filter out most people. The loot you receive will reflect the intelligence of the player. However, when you finally find a nice design in a good area on a busy day. It can get hilarious. Which is actually the point. The loot I always consider passive income. The players who sit around their trap base waiting are losing out. But that also requires the design to eventually be a set and forget method. Electrical with memory cell type designs seem the be the best. The door closing behind them is always gold.

The one used in this video is very reliable, but very obvious. Some traps require direct player interaction to activate (closing doors / building walls,) so things can go wrong more easily. These traps tend to be less obvious though, so its all about striking a balance there 5) Make it easy for the enemy to enter the trap If the trap requires too much work from the enemy, you'll limit your potential pool of victims. Unless they're walking right in, you're going to need something more inviting like the sound of an eco-raid or gunshots. A base that looks freshly raided is a solid option, but as an example building an autoturret in a forest can be one of the easiest traps to fall into. 6) A trap usually only works once Most people won't fall for the same trap twice. You might get them again when they come back naked with a DB to inspect the trap. Having multiple designs spread out around the map is the way to go if you want to rely on trapping for a living

yes that's it / love his content solo, some of the duo and trio's are good but they get kind of slap happy and not real. My only recommendation as a avid trap baser. Build someone near a monument entrance that will have foot traffic. (This is how I trick geared players). You built to close to outpost, lots of people watch trap vids, so anything funky near there outpost is always gonna feel sus. Then you built in a very quiet location, I'd recommend somewhere in between!
Believe me or not spoon but I saw your video pop up this morning and decided to build a trap base before watching this video. The key is to leave the door open and just let the curious roamers fall in on a raised platform. I got 17 kills within 2 hours

the drop down idea is great. make it look like its freshly decayed. to attract attention, place boxes, furnaces, workbenches etc. on top of the base . use a doorframe but no door to the drop down.

My tip is you gotta like put colorful unsuspecting bait out like a glowing box that makes people want to get closer. I'd also make sure that your house is visible from the road. If you had those two features on wipe day, too many people would come by your base.
I think the key to success is painting the image of being further along than all the passerby’s. Nobody with an AK is gonna go hop into the most obvious stone trap 2x2, but they might jump into a honeycombed base with possibly an exposed armored wall. Instead of waiting around, just keep upgrading your base and only your base so that it keeps it’s appeal as people progress
Definitely a base design with an open wall exposing boxes, pressure plate to open a double door to shotgun trap is easy and protects against grenades. Also playing on any type of group server is best, more newbs 😅
