I haven't been to Gulfport in over 20 years but when I was younger in the 80s I was there every weekend with my nova or chevelle. I would drive my 69 camaro there on street tires and put the slicks on and race. Then put the street tires on it and drive home.

I’ve always wondered why so many of the big small tire bears don’t do DOD. Guessing it’s because they don’t want to drop 400-500 lbs in their cars, change all the bar angles and shock settings and likely even change the converter stator. People have no idea how much work and car changes it takes to make a small tire go down super sketchy back side surfaces.

Its the tow hooks I added, the tire was squished pretty hard with all the extra weight in the car. We tried more tire pressure but the car spun so I let air back out and even with them dragging it 60'd harder.
Man scraping the 4- link every time you launch with all that weight. Do you have to replace himes or anything like that after a night like this? Honest question I'm kind of new to drag racing has I've only been really following it seriously for a couple years. Totally different from the world of circle track where I come from.
I know when the Car is on a good pass just by listening to the Engine, you can hear when it isn't into the Traction control and the RPM is up and the car is trucking, in the finals you could hear and see it was in it up until like the 500 ft when you pulled up next to him then the Engine smoothed out and went around him, I miss it so much but i re-live it watching your in car shots.

Is that the converter locking up or the n2O pouring in down track? Thing was laying down the power when it got to the rubber!
The converter locks really early, what you are hearing is ole girl finally getting some timing and up in the RPM and making 45+lbs at 8400rpm.
