As an American living in Taiwan these 17 years thus far, and being from Washington, DC (no political nor government involvement ), I am hopeful for positive things for Taiwan going forward.
US trade only takes 14% of total China trade in 2024 vs 33% in 2018. US tariff is not that impactful like in 2018. That’s why trump is not so keen on tariff China now.
Problem is trump is undermining his own policy by threatening allies for "national security reasons", setting an example to China that this is okay. When they inevitably invade, they can say they are just doing what Donald would do anyway, "why can't we do it too?"
The US must get back to manufacturing products at home. And getting important resources from other places other than China. The US can make better quality products that will eventually sell more in the long run.
