There are seven groups of 25-30 dogs each, the winners of each group competes for best overall dog
Like it or not, this dog showed very well. He just oozed that hallmark happy bichon personality and when all the other traits are perfect, this puts him over the top! This is a companion breed and they absolutely MUST have that cheerful personality. Congrats Flynn!
Floridafanatic28 I love Bichons (owned several. Looking for another), but JR had TONS more personality. Nevertheless either Flynn or Biggie were my favorites.
@Hutchlover Ds, yes he did, but Flynn wasn't being judged against JR was he? I have owned 5 including the one I own now. I also own a Shichon. Lovely breed!
JR was a once in a lifetime dog. Good luck finding another Bichon, I have a rescue Bichon now. She is very sweet and loving.
Hutchlover Ds Show dogs are like people -they have bad days and better days. I show dogs and sometimes they just don't show as well as on other days! They aren't always "up" for the ring.
I agree. He was the most alert of all of them. Not comparing him to previous bichon winner. Just him against contestants that day. He was very engaging with people who interacted with him more than any other breed.

The schnauzer and the pug! I work with dogs for a living and appreciate em all but those 2 we're my personal favorites.
That border collie was beautiful!! But I was a little biased towards Biggie the pug. 😊
Did anyone else notice that when the Bichon handler's hand started shaking when he realized he'd won, the Bichon walked up and nuzzled his hand? I thought that was kinda sweet.

Wow! I guessed right about the winner at the very beginning of the show! La-la-la!
I got them both right. The Schnauzer moved very well but the Bishon just asked for bis. He moved very well which is why I think he won. The others moved well too but the Bishon looked outstanding. I've been showing dogs close to 50 years and know what judges r looking for. I breed and show poms. Haven't made it to Westminster. But know what a good dog looks like.

I was in tears when they said Flynn was related to JR. who best in show 2001. JR was absolutely magnificent. His reaction to winning is priceless. My favorite win along with the Rumor, the German shepherd dog 2017
Was not expecting the bichon to take first. Y pick for first was the border collie, second giant schnauzer, then the Borsoi and lastly the Essex terrier he was so charming. That judge definitely had a difficult job though all them dogs were stunning spectacular examples of their breeds 😊
I want a pug now! So cute! He could take naps while I do my workouts.
If you do a workout, the pug will try to join you. They are extremely social want to do what their dogparents do.

Congratulations not one of my three choices for best in show but can’t complain all the dogs where well kept. I loved the border color Borzoi and Bean the Spaniel was absolutely adorable and stole my heart begging for treats lol. Congratulations to them all for making it to Best in show.

Woo Hoo Happy the Bichon won. Had 3, father, mother, and son...recently lost dad to old age...Bichons are comical, loving and are great watch dogs!

The giant schnauzer was my favorite, and although I would’ve love to have seen it win best in show, second place isn’t bad either.

The way they announce the winners are confusing if you don't follow these shows. Over all I am glad my favorite the Bichon Frise won.
The right dog won. The Bichon Frise is one of the most beautiful dogs of all breeds. Just delightful and the judges got it right!

Yay! Bichons are the best! My baby is 14 and still looks like a puppy and is so energetic and comical, even if he is a grumpy old man. You really couldn't ask for a better dog! I was also rooting for the Norfolk terrier (so cute and pudgy)
Disappointed, but that was a tough group,it would've been hard for anyone to choose.
Amazing performance from all of the dogs; must've been a hard group to judge. Congratulations to the winner though, I think it was well deserved.

How does one compare best in show among such a varied group of dog breeds? I never understood the criteria.
Each breed has it's own standard written to be judged against. The winner chosen is the dog that matches its standard the closest.
Bichons are an amazing breed and when not groomed for showing are the cutest & most natural-looking dogs you will ever see - like a happy stuffed animal come to life! They are intelligent, loyal & funny and tend not to be huge barkers. They may require medical care for certain issues as dogs sometimes do, so from the heart, I recommend pet insurance. I thought I was a big-dog person, but Bichons can get under your skin. They've become my favourite breed and have utterly stolen my heart thanks to an incredible female rescue dog named Shiloh. I can't express enough how much we loved that dog. I look forward to seeing her again one day! Yay, Flynn!!! 🌹❤️
