- Despite my best efforts, this little guy is still geared pretty high. It would be an ok trail truck I guess, but it's too top heavy and doesn't have enough torque for serious crawling. I knew it wouldn't be a serious contender, but I tried!

Was just thinking the same thing. I would be a tad pissed if I was the manager or owner. Some customers (older crowd) have lung problems and that could flair it up. Not like it’s propane powered lol

I was wondering why the idle was so high but, it makes sense now, since you are running a small SH7 flywheel setup. Higher rpm maybe needed to keep it from stalling. That’s probably why your head temp was higher as well
Fuel line friction “brake” is interesting idea. Wonder if it would hold up long term?

@@a2rc I've done fuel line friction on most of my swaps. It's easy-ish since none of these transmissions were built with a brake disk of any kind in mind, but the clutch bell is always engaged with the transmission. I have yet to see any serious wear on the fuel line brake in any of my builds, but that's the cool part, even if it wears out it's just fuel line tubing. $3 buy some more 🤷

that would help with stability I'd imagine, maybe toss some monster truck wheels on there as well for the fun of it & see how it does in the grass.

That's awesome. I wonder if a little more weight like a lead fishing weight in the front would help counterbalance the weight of the engine in the back a little better..? I'm no expert, though.
You've inspired me to do something with one of the two spare sportwerks .05 engines that I've had sitting on a shelf for a while. I'm thinkin' somethin' along the lines of a 1/18 or 1/16 Batmobile. Lol I love DC or Marvel anything, a nitro Batmobile would be badass.

@@w59jkwasd yeah, maybe, but I think the bigger issue is it's pretty top-heavy with the hard plastic body and Nitro motor. I never claimed these swaps were good performers, I just like doing them. Thanks for watching!

That sounds very lean. Do you have a hose for the exhaust to scavenge fuel correctly?
@@Blake-fz7ed scavenge fuel? No, but I do have a line supplying exhaust pressure to the fuel tank

Why not gear it down more? It’s like 3x as fast as it needs to be for any driving
@@Mckhus I tried. This is as low as I could get it with the transmission and "spur" gear restrictions. I might be able to mess with the diffs but that wouldn't change much.

And people say nitro can't crawl 🤣😆 The biggest issue I have crawling my Mad Crusher GP is it's enormous compared to a typical crawler and just can't fit in the gates.
Lower the idle down by richening the low speed needle please. It’s running lean
This engine only has a high speed needle. I've richened it pretty aggressively.

Eh, not really. Small flywheel, needs a lot of starter speed and the carb has no LSN so it is easy to flood
Nitro will never make a comeback. Electric is too good now and way faster. Way less trouble.

imagine a fifth scale going through very tall grass, then your crawler. Obviously just the 5th scale will make it, but you still run a crawler for the same reason as others run nitro: fun👍
I have a few Nitro cars and a few electric cars. But I never get the Nitro cars out 'cause they're too much trouble. Same with my helicopters . My gas heli just sit there. All I fly now is my electric helicopters. The sound of gas is cool but to much work when you don't have lot of time on your hands.
