This is the story of the worst first time Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga experience a player can make for themselves. Please subscribe to see me ruin more beloved game series. A lot of people wanted to see me finish this series so I finally pulled through. Can't say I don't finish anything I start.
This series was edited by Lumpkin!

NEW OUTRO! WOAH! Animation made ofc by @Football_Head2 on Twitter. No more Persona 4 I'll Face Myself Remix because I think this song represents me better at this point. (wait it was supposed to be deep? I'll just let you interpret it how you want)
New song is "The Weight of Life" from Xenoblade 3. It's a good video game :)

So... are you going to play brothership? (Oh and the actual mistake you made was not stats, it was never using the hammer bros moves)
Another gba game to give a shot: mother 3.
Just so you know. The stat stache basically means lucky meaning the higher the level of it the more likely you'll get critical hits just so you know. You're welcome I did a lot of research for games like this.😎😎😎🤓🤓🤓
Ou came back to the game after a year just to see Luigi getting poked in the ass lmao
Its even worse because the more you choose to upgrade the same stat in a row, the lower the bonus you will get on the wheel so since you kept choosing stache you only got super low numbers, when you could've gotten like +5 in others stats 💀
@@RuneTacticss The thing no game designer wants to see but has to expect
Sheer bullheadness trumping Good Game Design:tm:
@@TechBlade9000 though, that’s never explained in the game, unless I’m mistaken, so there’s not incentive to Cary your bonus stats unless you’re somehow familiar with the inner workings of this game, which why would anyone be, especially newer players.
Edit: I actually like to apply my bonus to the same stats too because the bonus doesn’t feel like it’ll make much of a difference to gameplay in the long run if I’m spreading it out.
Sophist’s strategy being that he leveled up Stache and got a badge that made his Lucky attacks do high damage, alongside lowering defense with lightning bros, allowing him to deal high damage. All of this combined… is about equal to just leveling up Power. I love game balance
All of that effort just for it to be worse than the Mario and Luigi equivalent of “just play a warrior”
I did this my first playthrough. Never finished it.
Lol
I'm pretty sure you can do up to 150 damage by leveling power and having the correct equipment by just JUMPING
If you are good at evasion then the only 2 stats you need to level are BP and POW. The only reason you would ever want to level anything else in a casual playthrough at that point is how level probability works and safety.
1:55:08 oh yeah!
you pesky mario bros, I'll make your last living moments on earth... ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!
*death by glamour starts playing*
Leave it to Eevee to focus on nothing but the power of the mustache. The mustache is the greatest power of all! Also, holy shit your fight against Wendy O. Koopa was super clutch, nice bruh😎
Damn Sophist it took you far too long my bro, i've been waiting for months
This is one of the most aggravating playthroughs of this game I’ve ever seen
GBA4IOS is back as Delta, and has been back for a little while! It has more systems available, and now it has the following systems available without any external content downloads:
- NES
- SNES
- N64 (don't ask me how they got it working)
- GB
- GBA
- DS
Of course, you WILL need a way to get ahold of files for these games which I legally can't say here without having Nintendo breathing down my neck for months, but just trust me, it's even better than it used to be. :)
"Mario and luigi: superstar saga, the stache only challenge"
1:12:09 CARNEGIA REFERENCE (pax Britannica Brainrot Moment)
My god, you weren't kidding when you mentioned on Brent's stream going stache only was a terrible mistake.
If the player is bad and has no idea of what they're doing then yes, still better than def, hp and speed maxing
@Gustavo-po9bd
Superstar Saga is probably the only Mario&Luigi game where speed maxing actually makes a difference because it can allow Mario to outspeed Cackletta's Soul on the first turn which is a pretty big deal for a first time player.
I still need to finish this game. Rip my Wii U save
especially since the game punishes you for only increasing one stat
@@rainpooper7088 just equip teh armor that makes you go first regardless
Fun fact: there is an item in superstar saga that can double your stache, the cobalt necktie. You usually can get this item by making different types of coffee with the beans you collected
I beleive you get it from making the teehespresso (the coffee that increases your stache)
@@handlebar4520 it's a total of 6 coffees
@@yokai59loi36 if i remember correctly the remake and the original game run on different settings for the coffee rewards, one cpunts the coffee number while the other has the items be to specific coffees
I mean to be fair, considering him with the hidden items in Super Mario RPG, maybe it’s best he didn’t go bean hunting XD
i never use coffee items unless it affects both bros. at once
On the upside, Stache makes items cheaper, so you can afford all the healing and buffing items you'll need!
Still a great use for a stat out side of battle

Bigger Discount? More Crits? You'd be a fool to not go all stache all the time!
Sophist after finally beating the game with only leveling up Stache: Stache is a good stat.
Also Sophist: Take 2 whole goddamn hours to beat Cackletta's Soul.
He may be a knucklehead, but I won't say he isn't persistent.
Can't imagine him doing that challenge when M&L: Brothership rolls around.
Crazy thing is this challenge could be doable if he bothered with starbeans.
I still haven't beat this game bc I waited far long long (in the playthrough) to practice and level up bros moves. So I was doing piss poor damage.

Though, tbf, the game is actually kinda hard.
@@beauvoirferril it's only hard in terms of not always knowing where to go/exploration, and learning some boss patterns. Otherwise its pretty easy imo
@@matthewaddai5336
To be fair, the last time I played it, I was-like-14. The exploration was more fun than hard though.
@beauvoirferril i hear that. I played the remake over the last year and a half after completing the original 20 years ago, and beat it in a week after having to start from scratch from the hermie fight cause i lost my original new nintendo 3ds. Outside the beanstar piece in the desert, the barrel mini-game briefly, ludwig, and cackletta's soul (who is defo harder in the remake, i died like 30 times to that bitch) it was actually a very easy run. Trying to beat the original game again currently.
For me, I ruined it by accidentally loading a save way earlier in the game than where I was. I was in the last area. Then I was back in the forest. I quit the game since.

In these games, you sometimes do a "lucky" attack where you do even more damage, "stache" Increases the possibility of them happening
In every game in the series except Dream Team, Stache does 2 things. One being the luck, and in the first two games, it makes the shopkeepers more generous. In Bowser's Inside Story, it gives you better bonus cards. In Paper Jam it increases the chance of item drops. It's only Dream Team where Stache is just luck.
Lucky attacks would be great if they worked with bros moves.
@@HapLord They do lol
@@phictionofgrandeur2387 I actually didn't know that, thanks for the info

To the editor, I feel your pain while watching this.
I don't think "gamecube era had hard games" is a valid excuse when the mechanics have remained the same throughout the series /:]
30:54 English isn't based on Latin at all, it just uses a ton of French loanwords because the nobility of England was French for 300 years. English is a Germanic language through and through (French is a Romance language), and the closest language to it is West Frisian (the closest language that most people have heard of is Dutch), unless you count Scots as its own language and not as a dialect (which there is a case for, but I don't).
Literally came down here just for this comment XD
0:01 Has… hasn’t Sophist used this intro before? Or did he go back and relive his childhood to use it again? Because one of them is impossible, and the other one involves cursed-dice powered time travel.
The intro is from the first episode of this series as this video combines the other three vids I had for this game.
Whats funny is the stache level ups wouldn’t even natter if sophist bought the mush badge from mushroom town and a ton of mushrooms to do loads of damage
Brent: min-maxing the whole game
Sophist: MOUSTACHE
Me: I'm to farm 99 of every bean and make 99 drinks that randomly gives any stat +6.
Love how he caught on to the Red & Green bros trope in this game after only 1 encounter and it took my ass until the Frenchmen to realize they were doing that
As a person who loved Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga on the 3DS, you suffering reminds me of my first playthrough (funfact, young me got stuck before the first Cacklette on a puzzle, still haven't finished it)
Every time my stache grows,I get shop discount and my attacks do Critical Damage more often!
Better stache = godly power
Who could resist those chad-like staches?
My first experience (Bowser's Inside Story) was ruined by the fact that not only did I think HP was the only stat I could roll for in Level ups, (yes, like Chugga) but apparently the concepts of grinding and equipment were completely foreign to me. In my defense, it was my first RPG and I was like 8.
My first rpg was Pokémon Crystal and I was 6 at the time when I got it and even then I eventually understood 80-85% of the mechanics in less than a month of playing it, you have no excuse only skill issues 😅. I eventually got around to playing this game too during my childhood, I only struggled in the final boss because of “that bs situation”. In all seriousness though I’ve had my own instances where I did “ruin my experience” like wasting a Master ball on a Ponyta, it’s just a part of your growth as a gamer: good ol trail and error
Tbh you never have to grind in any of the Mario and Luigi games which is why I find it more enjoyable than other RPGs. A lot of battles come down to learning the enemy and skillful timing. Equipment is such a life saver tho!
@@Tim7318-3 "I learned faster than you and thereforth am better"
Congrats, you rolled a questionable talent that you don't even realize is a talent. It took me fucking 23 years to realize *that* was my talent roll.
Hopefully you don't plateau in understanding unlike me as well.
same, I got stuck against junker
Final Fantasy 4 was my first rpg when I was little. Had absolutely no clue what these numbers meant, met the first boss (White mist dragon), but family called for dinner during the fight, so after I've done so, I looked at the characters confused why they looks tired. Still somehow emerged victorious though, rest of the game was me learning how to properly play rpgs, with no guide, and my english was lackluster, but I'm glad for it
Honestly it's more impressive than anything. Like, you REALLY went in on stache, a stat NO ONE ever even looks at, and managed to beat the entire game. It may have take a year, but it's a glorious thing to see.
Man if only there was a stat in the game that let's you move before Cackletta, allowing you to heal before she attacks...
On an unrelated note, nice stache.
Couldn’t have been worse than how Chuggaaconroy played it.
how did he play it?
@@Nightmare_52 He has a lot of stories of how he played it as a kid. He only boosted HP, went to the stores once, etc.
ohh right, well i dont think stache is better to go all in for than HP, then again chugga was a kid when he did it so its kinda justified with kid logic, sophist however :p

Sometimes, such 'accidental' situations are the most memorable part of the game.
I love how Eevee called the final, final boss bad game design when his fault for not leveling speed. It's like the game knew he was trolling and punished him! Throughout this whole thing, I think I could hear Brent having an aneurysm! So, don't you worry, Eevee. I don't think anyone gonna try and replicate this.
I still can't believe the madman did it. Then again, this is the same guy that did a Ferdinand only run in FE: Three Houses.
Stache only is one of those runs where youd think "its gonna be difficult but worth it" only for it to turn into "everything will fall to my stache, there is only surrender" oddly fast.

To be fair, having a ton of stache ISN'T a bad thing. You just need to use all your coins to buy a shit ton of mushrooms and use the badge that translates mushrooms into attack power.
I was playing Minish Cap on the Switch, got to the last section of the game, spent a long ass time getting figurines and friendship pieces, and then I went to save state and I accidentally loaded it way back at the ice temple, losing hours of progress
Finally Sophist, the gaming phenomenon, finished the greatest RPG ever: Mario & Luigi
...To the surprise of no one, Eevee doesn't play by the rules, but for chaos as usual
Fun point, in bowsers inside story, if you don't chose a stat to increase, it get's a small bonus to its natural increase each time. But this bonus can snowball quickly after 10 lvls of only increasing mustache.
I wonder how much rage Brent built up watching you play this because I know he was screaming at the top of his lungs
