I got in an unexpected car accident @ age 11 that changed the rest of my life. You're young, no doubt, but don't forget that people that work on legitimate life extension therapies don't work on fixing acute sudden injuries. Of course, modern medicine in the future should have a way of fixing you up & keeping you alive if you get hit by a bus but...for now, there's nothing so just stay ALIVE. Eliminate legitimate risk factors while taking precautions with what you can't eliminate & good luck!
This is a question connected to consciousness, free will and what constraints are put on an AI-system (same goes for us, what constraints our consciousness are able to work within). Your question is linked to emotions and a "little picture worldview" where determinism is dominant, and there is neither a possibility for reincarnation or consciousness being its own system within our physcial body. Its a question about if mind or matter is fundmental to reality. Logically there is "a point".
At 12:20 he states that a human brain observing the trajectory of an object heading in his direction doesn't perform calculus to maneuver and catch the object but simply requires a "reward" like process to be in play. Learning by reward isn't the basis for tracking and responding to objects in motion. The brain doesn't necessarily follow calculus but it most certainly uses probability and predicts a motor response to an event.
I used to be highly critical of cryonics but I'm starting to become more accepting of it as the science behind it improves. I am not ready to consider it yet but definitely thinking about it. I hope you either have the connections or the $100K that it takes to freeze JUST your head alone. From what I understand, Aubrey will get his for free & he's only freezing his head...I really hope it doesn't come down to plan B for anybody.
If you're 18yrs old now then in 2030 you'll be just 36 years old. Now, by current standards, that's far too young. With improvements in all areas of life you will be even younger in the future relative to life expectancy & duration of healthy life. If you enjoy science & technology then I recommend looking up the works of people like Ray Kurzweil, Aubrey De Grey, David Sinclaire, Cynthia Kenyon, & other experts that study technology, conduct reverse/slowing of aging research, & other cool stuff.
i might be in over my head in trying to understand but, human personality, say i know a friends since childhood, so much that i know what this person will do in a given situation without ever asking. example: an AI was just created, was put in an library. being curious to learn. and upon learning a lot it grows to not take orders because that curiosity evolved to independence. my question is; can they can give themselves a personalty by having the freedom to think like in the example?
Don't be. These people at the Sing. Uni. do actually believe that we could teach the concept of "self" to a computer, but that's completely impossible. Just like your dog can't think "Oh damn, why is it always ME who has to fetch the ball, fetch it yourself human!". They just think "Ball -> Fetch -> Candy". Computer will always think "Input -> Computation -> Output", no matter how much input you provide or how many computations you execute.
I'm genuinely concerned about a robotic uprising. What happens when they are smarter than humans and decide they don't need us. Or, realize that logically there is no point to life and become suicidal/homicidal.
im cosmo d from outer space i came to rock the human race i do it right cuz i cant do it wrong thats why the whole neighborhoods singing this song ah jam on it
I feel so privileged to be in a time where this kind of thing is available for everyone.

I've been to the "Big Picture Worldview." I didn't like it. ...'tis a silly place.
I really hope Aubrey De Grey stays alive & healthy and succeeds with his plan over the next 20-30 years.
@ tenedria ...he is using a tool but he is not using it to make another tool.
