Everyone has been waiting for the first battery powered pressure washer that can do some serious cleaning. In this review I setup, test and demonstrate the brand new 2021 Ryobi 1500psi 1.2Gpm battery cordless 40volt portable pressure washer. Is this the model we have all been dreaming off? Just bought the latest version of this which comes with rapid charger and 2 6ah batteries. I have the mower so now have 4 - 6ah batts and 2 rapid chargers. I have 3 story colonial and needed all 4 batts as it has been years since I had pressure washed house and 2 sides were really bad. Did a great job and totally satisfied. If I use yearly should be able to do whole house with 2 batts. I had basement water proofed about 5 years ago. Plan on using this to deep clean floor before painting this fall with it.

Have now used this to clean house siding and it performed well ruclips.net/user/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX I also bought some wand extensions which enabled higher washing without needing a ladder. I recommend both. This unit arrived quickly, was easy to assemble (only had to attach the handle), and arrived in perfect condition. The only very slight downgrade from a perfect score is the design has a low handle and requires pulling from the side. My old washer was an upright model, while this one is more horizontal. Other than that, it's perfect for my needs. It has a great deal of pressure and more easily cleaned the house siding, porch rails and concrete than did my older model. The engine is a bit louder, as well, but the total time to clean was reduced by the more powerful spray. Did I mention it starts on the first or second pull every time?!! I am definitely happy with this model.
I think ryobi heard the complaints they just released a whisper version that comes with 6.0 ah batteries instead of 5.0 ah so run time should be longer and comes with a rapid charger cutting charge time down to 2 hours 1 hour each battery and biggest thing these extras they didn’t add to the price it’s still $499
I love you finally made a review on this. I've use this for my mobile detailing business and this is definitely stronger than the sun joe bucket. Pros: strong and can be use anywhere. Con: Bag is really awkward at times LOL and the battery lifespan. Luckily i own 2 sets so i don't really have an issue. Your next review should be the green works 60v greenwork pressure washer 1.5 psi that can suck out of a bucket like the worx

Ryobi should make a hard tank since they are into stackable tool carts. I can see this being useful for the service sector for small jobs.

Good review Andrew! I use it every week but with upgrated accesories. It's the quietest pressure washer in the market, that's another pro 😉. Also now it would be interesting to buy it in conjuction with the new 40v 1500W power inverter. Quick charger is mandatory (5Ah takes 1h)

I have the whisper series hp model that accepts 6ah hp batteries I can do 2 cars with 1/2 a charge on a 40 volt go battery and fast charger that charges those batteries in 1 hour
Ego needs a 2000psi model like this I don't care if it uses 8x batteries.

This is the type of tool that absolutely should be hybrid!!! Super short run time, definitely needs to be able to accept and come with bigger batteries. Not a fan of the 1500psi either. I'll wait on future versions that have all these features and hopefully run at 3000psi. And please can we use quick connect fittings on every pressure washer.
that would be a perfect upgrade
3000 psi from an electric pressure washer is probably asking for a bit much. But hybrid power is a must. 3000 psi if it was hybrid gas and battery. 1500 psi if it was hybrid battery and 120v. If runtime is already an issue at 1500, it would be even shorter at twice the PSI. This really should have had a 120v plug, they're selling this tool short of its potential so that it doesn't exactly overlap other things in their tool arsenal. Its better to sell you 2 or 3 of them than 1. (Battery, electric, gas)
There dint do hybrid for cost, mosfets are rated to 63v and 40 or so amps so can not be used to invert mains supply in an easy fashion world wide fwts needs tk be swapped adding cost and software complexity so until one manufacturer us desperate and does it to make the rest look bad no one does it at all, economy not strong so dont expect to see it anytine soon my guess.

It should come with a large water tank on wheels that is about the same size as the pressure washer. That bladder type looks like it wouldn't last very long, especially if the connection is on the bottom of the bag.
nice power but the size and price. spend a bit more, I could buy a battery station with AC outlet that can drive a small, cheap AC powered pressure washer. not only I get the huge portable power, I also get way more run time.
Can you use a 5 gallon bucket 🪣 water system on this unit. I heard the bag isn’t strong.

Great video , i woulkd definately change that 15 ° to the 40 ° degree white quick release nozzle when doing cars or rinsing large / large sensitive areas ( Car , Garden furniture , windows etc

i know batteries arent cheap, but would love to see what a dual 7.5 runtime would be, and im sure you could rig a 5 gal or bigger bucket to the system

You can't use the 7.5-Ah batteries with the power washer because they won't fit. Same goes for the 6-Ah HP battery (OP40602). The highest capacity you can use are the standard 6-Ah batteries (OP40601 or OP40604).

So if you can't draw from a bucket then the water bladder is gravity fed? So the bag has to always be higher then the washer.

I recently got the newer whisper series($599) and liked it, I'm only using for washing my cars on weekend. I'm also waiting for my active 2.0 pressure washer order. I'm not sure I should keep this Ryobi or return it. I'ts a good deal for $599 with batteries and charger but I'm not a power tool guy so I'm not going to use or need any other ryobi 40v series tools.

It's not so bad if you have the ryobi 40v rapid charger where you can charge a 6ah battery in only an hour.

Hear me out... put the bag inside out.. ina bucket.. to draw from a bucket.. and not void the warranty.. think it’s possible?

I have worn out 2 Karcher (sic?) pressure washers in the last 5 years and I have been getting by on a hose end pseudo-pressure washer until a good battery solution (Ego?) arrives. The battery life of the Ego tools is phenomenal. I just used the limb trimmer and got a pickup bed full of tree trimmings. The battery went down 1 bar during the process.

@@DanielGomez-cf6vk great idea with the generator. The only issue I have with the trivia is that unlike the worx battery pressure washer can draw from any water source.
My huge con for me is that it won't accept a 6ah 40v battery. I bought the lawn mower, and it came with 2. Battery size is 2x as large as the 5ah battery
I'm not sure if it will accept the 6ah - I don't have any to test with
Ryobi says it will accept up to a 6ah 40v battery on their website.

There are two different sizes of 6-Ah 40V batteries. It will accept the OP40601 or OP40604, but will NOT accept the OP40602.
Got the newer model for $299 40 volt much better it’s improved and accepts

The best feature of this was the cardboard box it came in. Transported home great.
This is the worst ryobi unit I've ever had the pain of operating. Approximately 15 minutes of use from a single 36v 5AH battery (new) then when it dies the battery is so hot you need to let it cool down before charging. 4 hours later with the charger that comes in this horrible kit and still not charged. Do another 12 minutes work with it. Luckily (or unlucky depending on how you look at it) I already owned a 36v 6AH output charger that charged in roughly and hour leading me to continue trying to make this tool work. This is what led to my second mistake regarding this abortion. I came up with this great idea thinking about buying 5 new batteries from them just to say thankyou for my new haemmorrhoids i found from lifting my wallet so much. So back to bunnings again to buy 5x 5AH batteries to find there was none in stock and special order only, same with the 4AH and they only had a 3AH. Chuckled to myself and thought I'd rather slam my **** In a car door and set out looking for a tool with another battery and spent another $350 on this on the spot great idea. As you can guess I started inviting everyone I spoke to to a ryobi bonfire I was having on the weekend and everyone was invited to burn their 36V ryobi rubbish in it too, including the staff at bunnings (they couldn'tstop laughing). Next day I spent roughly $800 on a new ryobi pressure cleaner (I love being treated like trash in the bedroom by ryobi apparently) but this time 4 stroke and at least I got my job done in 6 hours instead of a month and half later. I'd love to thank ryobi for my newly developed brain cancer and I look forward to doing this again with you soon.

To hold a pressure washer 12" away from the surface is a waste of time. The pressure is highest at 2-3 inches. You can compare it to light intensity. Light is 1/4 the intensity at double the density, the same is true with these machines.

What ryobi should have done is made it hybrid. So there is no need for a second pressure washer.
That's quite a big motor inside. If 2 batteries last 15m @ 40v/5A x2 400w/h. motor is around1600w

A battery powered pressure washer is the most useless thing you can have. You still have to have the pressure washer connected to the hose.

Rip off and piece of junk at $499 better off with a more powerful gas one at this price.
