Last week I took a chance during a conversation meeting a friend of the family's granddaughter to ask if she sewed. She said yes! And I said well I have two boxes of vintage patterns I'm not gonna use in my car, would she want them? She was so excited! I was relieved cause I knew they weren't in good enough condition to sell at the thrift stores so they'd likely toss them.❤I could have kept them but would likely never use them so I'm so thrilled they now have a home with someone who will love them and use them to create with. 😊

An interesting strategy: carry giftable portions your stash. 😁 But you know, sewing does come up in conversations, lots of people are looking for affordable supplies, and this would be the perfect way to make someone's day.

@@AgosiaArts 😊I've given away machines, patterns and bags of fabrics in the past to random people I chatted with in fabric shops. I'm sure I am now part of their "how I got my sewing supplies" stories.😂

Great suggestions. I also give to Salvation Army local store. 👏👏👏👏

It is true that thrift stores can be great resources for donations (giving and receiving!), but not all thrift stores accept art supplies and not everyone has access to access to them. Remember than not all artists work in paper or fiber. If you are a clay artist, a painter or a metal worker, a thrift store will not take your extra goodies!
