Google should crowdsource 3d scans from people with these apps.

Does anyone know a UE plugin that supports 3rd order SH on Gaussian Splats?

is there a way to turn ply points into a mesh in UE5 to add effects? I wanted to add particles effects to the scan but haven't been able too. Ive seen people do it in blender

Thanks for a great question. The ply file is made by Niagara. so if you move the modules in update state to spawn state, you can customize the effect like adding the curl noise. but still have some limitation. In details, i will upload new video about it, stay tuned!

can gaussian splatting ply accept and/or receive shadows in unreal engine? for example, if i add a character into the scene and a light, will he cast shadow or ambient occlusion. cause if it doesn't, any additional objects you add to a gaussian splat scene will just look like they don't belong and a lot of interactive ideas simply wouldn't work. also, is it possible to turn a gaussian splat into an actual 3d mesh?

Actually shadow works but it does NOT casts clear cuz gs is made by a bunch of sprite particles. You can download fbx from your profile in luma ai. however, be aware it's fucking heavy haha maybe only using mesh and texture on the ground is the best way

it's on the same page as you can dowload ply. you can see the options of fbx and obj and something, above the ply@@user-be7lu9xc2m
