    Thank you so much for sharing this great idea! I'm a newbie so it took me a solid week to make but the instructions were easy to follow, and the frog looks adorable. Too adorable tbh... because my family felt sorry to see it lying on the floor and now it sits on a chair in the kitchen and demotivates me every morning;)

      @@LS-no1ob congratulations on making your own little squashed frog door stopper! I’m glad it worked out so well. I’m sorry your family doesn’t appreciate it… It seems like a lot of people think the frog is dead 💀 😭, which is totally not what I was imagining when I created the original one. I live in Australia and we have some very big frogs called “green tree frogs”. They are just so cute and placid and have a funny habit of squeezing themselves into very small spaces. I imagined that if it was me, then I would get exhausted as I was squeezing under narrow spaces or into tiny cracks. My squashed frog door stopper is a frog, squeezing itself under the door and taking a break part way through 😂🤣😂 Maybe if you tell your family the story behind the frog, they might be happier to let yours stay under the door. 🤣
      I’ve recently created a squashed cow door stopper tutorial as well. It’s based on the old adage, “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence” and has a cow squeezing under the door to get a small clump of grass on the other side 🤣

    You crack me up with the speeded up counting ;)
    Sis is a frog lover, and she needs a softish doorstopper for her kitchen door. This frog will be just, what might give her a smile. It will have to be made a little smaller, though, so it looks like I will have to do my own math, and adjust head and body.

    • @carolynzaki
      @carolynzaki  5 месяцев назад +1

      I hope your sis will love her frog. Mine still makes me smile all these years later 🤣.
      If you use one strand instead of 2 and a smaller hook, it should crochet up smaller. My Bocchi blob video shows the difference in yarn weight and hook size outcomes at the beginning of the video.
      The round count is in the description. I come from a freestyle crochet background, so had a bit of trouble figuring out all the information people needed to replicate my frog 😫.

    • @NickUncommon
      @NickUncommon 5 месяцев назад +1

      No worries, I have a freestyle background, too. It got me into trouble, when I reverse engineered a toy, I saw on the www, and the designer was not happy, that I did not buy her pattern for it. She accused me of having illegally aquired her pattern, so I rather ask before replicating sometjing out of what I saw, and the resulting project being too close to the original and the designer not being happy with it.
      Thanks for giving me the go ahead.
      Will dig in my cottons and hope it will make sis as giggly as me. That face on the frog is just too funny.

      @@NickUncommon I’m totally cool about anyone making my frog.
      It does get a bit annoying when people reverse engineer my designs and then sell them as their own “original” patterns though…
      I find the designs that move on to something new and different inspiring though. Someone made a squashed rat door stopper and I think it’s brilliant. I hope it was inspired by my frog. When I first posted my frog picture on Pinterest I couldn’t find any crochet squashed animals at all anywhere on the internet. Now there are heaps of fun ideas coming out. It’s fun when we inspire each other without stealing each other’s designs 🤩

    • @NickUncommon
      @NickUncommon 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@carolynzaki i wont sell or call something my own which is not. In the case, where the designer told me off, I mentooned, that what I made was inspied by her design and it was a one picture project note in a forum. Being Autistic, I sometimes involuntarily violate unwritten rules. I am open for critique, and where I can, I try my best to clear up any hiccups, I can anticipate.

    • @carolynzaki
      @carolynzaki  5 месяцев назад +3

      You only need a weighted ball in the body. I experimented with a cut tennis ball in the head, but the shaping in the crochet pattern is enough to keep the shape and you don’t need weight on both sides. You can also fill the body with tights filled with stones, or other small weighted things, but I prefer the recycled heavy ball option because of the beautiful shape it gives.

    Hi! I'm trying this pattern for my godmother, I just have a little problem the body of the frog is pointy it may be my doing or the yarn I used, it's thicker than yours but do you know if I can fix this or if it will affect to project in any way???
    Thanks a lot for the pattern it's really easy to follow and I can't wait for the end result

    • @carolynzaki
      @carolynzaki  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi,
      The only thing I can think of that would cause the body to become pointy is if you stack your increases on top of increases from the previous rounds or place them too close together in one round. You need to place the increases between the increases from the previous rounds and spread them evenly around each round.
      If you have put increases close together or stacked them on increases from previous rounds you would get pointy sections. In that case, you would need to undo some of your work, back to where the pointy parts start.
      As to whether they will affect your project, it probably depends on what you are using to fill your frog. The solid lawn bowls ball or bocce balls would help to push any bumps flatter if it is a tight squeeze to fit them in.
      If you are planning to use stuffing, you could test it out now by stuffing what you've completed so far very firmly with fibre stuffing and see whether you still have pointy sections...
      I hope it works out for you and I hope your godmother loves it 🥰

      Hi Suzanne,
      Thank you for noticing I've missed the stitch count for round 8. I added it to the description. You'll notice in the video that there are increases in round 8. The pattern for the arms and legs is the first part I've described how to make in the video. It's at 2:58. I've actually made 2 options for the toes. In this video I used Magic rings in a contrasting colour for the toe pads and 16 fdc for the front legs and 18 fdc for the back legs with 4 chain from the fdc to the toes. Then sew the stitches together to make a little hand where all the chains meet.
      I hope you have fun making your own little squashed frog door stopper!

    • @carolynzaki
      @carolynzaki  5 месяцев назад

      I guess it depends on how long you expect to use it. I made my first frog nearly 7 years ago and it’s still fine. I think a balloon would perish and break before long and you’d just have sand everywhere. I used a round plastic container with a screw on lid for the one I sent to Japan. My friend filled it with sand and then sewed it shut. She has no small children or pets, so it should last well. My wonderful pattern tester, Rafaela, used old tights filled with HDPE pellets. You can check out her review on Ravelry. There are so many ways you could fill it, but I needed something my son wouldn’t destroy and I wanted it to really keep its shape well, so I chose the recycled weight ball, bocce ball and wooden and plastic lawn bowls balls for mine. I just love how round the little belly is 🤣
